August 19, 2029 Neo-Tokyo, Japan The week starts off slowly with two poor outings by Jose Santos - his worst start of the year - and Julio Diaz who remains an enigma. The team bounces back by taking 3 of the next 4, including a blow out 14-1 win vs Bakersfield on Friday. Tomas Martinez knocks in 6 RBI in that game and finishes the week with 98 to lead the SL. The Akira finish with a 3-0 shutout of the Bears on Sunday due to a fine bounce back performance by Santos who tosses 7.2 shutout innings for his 14th win.

A 3-3 week leaves NT with a record of 79-46, 5.5 games up on second place Shin Seiki. Up ahead: The final game at the Bears (73-51) and home series vs Yuma (40-84) and Reno (54-71).

Jeff Grier now leads the SL with a .333 BA. Julio Gonzalez is tied for the ML lead with 34 saves.

Neo-Tokyo is well-positioned for the stretch drive. Bring it on home!

August 26, 2029 Neo-Tokyo, Japan The Akira open the week with a 3-1 loss to Bakersfield as they close out their 4 game series. Jose Diaz pitches well, allowing 1 ER but manages only 4.1 IP as the team has him on a short pitch count. Nonetheless, the offense is stifled by Fred Womack who gives up only 5 hits for his 9th victory.

Yuma comes to the Grounds and the Akira sweep the Bulldozers in the 3 game series. Game 2 saw Luigi Bright pick up his 14th win of the season after tossing 6.1 scoreless innings. He is 4th in the SL in wins (1 behind a 2 way tie for 2nd) and 3rd in ERA (2.41). Yuma SP Vinnie de Brauwer was handed his 18th loss vs no victories in game 3 as NeTo pounds the 'dozers 9-5. Guillermo Justavo has 5 RBIs on 3 for 5 hitting with 2 HR.

Reno comes to town and the Akira win their 4th in a row 7-2 behind Jose Santos' first complete game of the year, picking up his 15th victory. He is 5th in the SL in ERA (2.52), 2nd in wins, first in IP (178.2) and 5th in WAR (4.5) . Santos and Bright give the team a solid 1-2 punch for a possible playoff run. The Zephyers take the final two games of the series including a tough 1-0 loss on Sunday despite SP Javier Ferreira's magnificent effort.

Tomas Martinez leads the PEBA in RBI with 105. Jeff Grier leads the SL in BA at .336 and has 74 SB.

Neo-Tokyo finishes with a 4-3 week, 83-49 on the season. Shin Seiki edges closer with a 5-1 week and are 4 GB, 3 GB in the loss column. Upcoming games: Three at home vs Bakersfield (77-54) and at Yuma (41-89).
