Whelp... the injury bug finally hit Crystal Lake. Miguel Cantu out for the season with a torn meniscus. Could be a career ender at 34. Still owe him big bucks in 2027 however.

Sad news. This was a pretty brutal sim for injuries all round (though Palm Springs happily dodged any bullets for once)....Cantu probably the biggest name, but quite a few impact guys on playoff-level teams were hit this week. :,-(

Not Neat is how the Injury Bug jumped up and bit the Borealis - CF Tomas Flores, tears a shoulder muscle diving for a ball and will be out until spring training... Grrrrr... But it was a rough week for contenders - the Evil Evas losing Gilbert Murray and the 'Gnats losing Cantu...

The good news has Aurora clinching a playoff spot (the division is a matter of days) while hitting the 4.6M mark in attendance, with 3 home games left - which should allow the Borealis to set a team record - and a decent post-season should allow Aurora to pass 5M (gotta be the record, right?)...

Down on the Farm
Only Mokule'ia may be the only farm club to make the playoffs - this will be the closest to Aurora being shut out of the minor league playoffs - and it may still happen, with 8 games left. The Oceanic Starters have the top Hawaiian ERA, 2.35, with 5 of the 6 starters coming out of this years draft - Rob Imhoff (#1 pick), who has only 7 starts, thanks to injury, leads the staff at 1.16 and Jesus Solis (Supp Pick) has a 1.95...

Toyama's season has been effectively over for a while now but some of the positives include Escobido continuing to hit like a madman & a handful of players are in contention for an All-Leather award.

The farm has been going fairly well, Yokohama (AAA) has clinched a playoff spot, Beppu City (AA) missed out on playoffs by 1 game, and Osakasayama is 1 game out of the division lead.

PEBA is going to have a large proportion of AAAA players in the play-offs.

2026 has been a massacre.

Sandgnats have had a lot of luck the last 2 years with injuries and timely returns from the DL. I knew that streak was about to end. Like most sports its about timing, staying healthy and a little luck sometimes.

Highlights from this last sim for Kentucky
SP Camacho suspended 6 games
SP Shimizu suspended 6 games
call-up from AAA SP Vega (in long relief) gets 2 wins
Closer Aranda reaches 300 saves for career
Ky goes 6-0 and leads Florida by 1 game ... could this be the year Florida does not win the division???

the drama is killing me

Good sim as we were 5 and 2. Signed Bartolo Esquival to a long-term contract. He was angry about the trade for so long it took 4 sims just to get the deal done. I m really happy with Harley Schneider as he is at 34 homers and 104 RBIs now. I look forward to the playoffs I as Duluth is 6 games out for their magic number

Sad to see Alfredo Velázquez's career end with an injury. Key member of the 2024 Gnats Champion Squad. Wish him the best.

Two torn rotator cuff injuries in one season definitely seem like a sign to hang it up.

As for Toyama, all attention has turned to AAA Yokohama who has entered playoffs as the wildcard, despite being the second-best team in the RML. A final day tiebreaker against division rivals Kyoto saw the Plumbers lose 4-3 and finish as the wildcard at 90-51.

This Sim was a nice microcosm of the Evas 2026 season. Nice success on the field in the short term, going 4-2 and clinching the division title.

We also more injuries. Yarbrough went back down after managing 2 PA's. More significantly, OF Sadatake Sato was lost for the rest of the year with a torn groin - his 9th injury of the season. That puts SS down 8 players heading in to what will likely be a very brief playoff run.

On the upside, some of the replacement guys I brought in are faring bizarrely well. SP Juan Martinez, who by all accounts is just an average arm, is 8-0 in 9 starts. SP Bryan Bedell has also been surprisingly solid, going 4-1 with a 2.56 ERA in 8 starts.

So who knows, maybe the playoffs will go better than expected. The offense looks OK and long time Eva slugger Ryozo Takeuchi is finally waking up. SS at least has a puncher's chance.

Shame Velazquez never got to shine in his hometown. Maybe not the time to raise the question in this tragic moment for him but will I have to still pay him  ...or does he retire?
