The Gnats ended July with a 2-2 series split on the road against league leader Shin Seiki and a 3 game series win back at home against Yuma.
RF Jarrod 'Merlin' Ricks returned from his suspension with a .267 AVG, .903 OPS, 3 HRs and 6RBIs. CF Jerry Long continued his hot season with .409 AVG, 1.007 OPS and 3 RBIs. Jack Speed has embraced his new role at DH with a .364 AVG, .895 OPS and 2 RBIs.
SS Orlando Barrón has returned from an intercostal strain and has been assigned for a rehab assignment at AAA Evansville.
Crystal Lake sits at one game back of the wild card and 5 games down from Duluth for the lead in the Great Lakes Division.
RP Phil Burns presently with an ERA of 2.30 out of the bullpen is rumored to see his first start of the last 2 seasons for the up coming series against Fargo. It's rumored that SP Tatsui Kouno or SP Miguel Cantú could be regulated to the bullpen because of recent struggles.
No trade rumors have been heard so far except for preliminary talks with a few teams at the deadline.
