"The Kentucky Thoroughbreds were informed today by team doctors that third baseman Marcos Sánchez sustained a strained hamstring in a recent game against the Scottish Claymores and will not play for 3 weeks. Sánchez was hurt running the bases."

He joins 2 staring pitchers (Shimizu and Maes) along with starting SS (Stewart Abbott). Without Sanchez we stand no chance in post season. :angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack:

Frustrating 1-2 at K-Zoo where Aurora pitchers couldn't seem to get an out and the hitters couldn't get the one hit they needed. This was offset by a nice series win at The Lake. End result: We drop a half game to The Evil Evas (-2.5), and are passed by the Duluthians for #2 (by a game)...

SP Billy Taylor made his ML debut - the 55th overall (and Aurora's #1 that years) selection - who was #40 on the roster this year (kept over Orlando Alarcon, who'd be a Reno Rule 5 pick) - pitched 6-shut out innings at The Zoo... C Manny Castro - next years expected starter, was 2-5 in his first two big league games... INF Bill Jones, not so happy at 1-10, 5 K...

"Javelin' is done for the year with an elbow strain, so old-timer Bryant Burris with a 2.09 ERA and 3 saves - needing only 5 to tie Raul Pinto's career mark of 388, will get first crack at his old job... This will be Bryant's last year in Aurora, as well, so if he's breaking it as a Borealis, here's his chance...

Nick Giles is also out for the year, with a broken ankle, ending a very frustrating two year stretch for Aurora's SS... Also waiting on Mike Hale, who missed 6 weeks starting in mid-July, only to get hurt rehabbing and miss another 4 weeks - he should be back in a week... we hope...

Big 10 days coming up, with the Evas up and Duluth in the hole - this is Aurora's last chance to effect the race with their own efforts! 'Terror' Diaz will make his season debut v. SS (14-4, 1.47 at AAA), followed by Provost an 'Tugboat'...

The annual 'New Orleans September Meltdown' is here! :puke-front:

We have been in free-fall mode over the last few weeks (lost our last 9 games in a row at this point), and Bob Dunn (elbow), Jim McIntosh (hamstring), and Marcos Colón (also hamstring) all injured themselves in quick succession. Perhaps we need to include a bit more stretching during team warmups?

We also fear that a certain New Orleans Trendsetters legend might be playing his final games in a 'Setters uniform. We tried mightily all summer to sign him, but so far we have not been able to. The modest finances of the team doesn't allow us to meet his (substantial) demands so far. We will keep trying, but he might be on the way out.

There is a big "Budget Limits Suck/Billy Beane/Moneyball/Chair Throwing" feel to the team this fall, so far...

That might turn out to be a lucky break for the club. Too many times after ponying up the cash for one of these kinds of guys to renew with our club OOTP goes on and gives them an injury or sudden drop in performance the next season. Can't say it is by design but sometimes it sure feels that way. Seems most acute with guys the GM says he wants to renew. I'm looking at you Hiroshige Takeda. :shake:

11/20/2024 Signed a 3-year contract extension worth a total of $57,000,000 with the Havana Leones organization.
01/01/2025 OSA scouting updated ratings (potential): Contact: 6 (6); Power: 8 (9); Eye: 5 (9).
04/29/2025 Injured (quadriceps strain), out for 2 weeks.
05/05/2025 Suffered setback in recovery from injury, will miss another 2 weeks.
05/26/2025 Injured (bone bruise (wrist)), out for 2 weeks.
06/20/2025 Injured (broken bone in elbow), out for 5 months.

It's true. I guess it's just the human element and the unrealistic expectation that Nash should, by right, somehow, be able to pull a Jeter and play his entire career with the Trendsetters.

Although, to think New Orleans has New York money...

The World Ends When You're Dead. Great advice from Mr. Al Swearengen. It can also be titled; How To Take A Beating. That might be a bit more fitting to the current state of the Reno Zephyrs. Click on the youtube video....I'll wait....really....it is the only way to understand how it feels to be a Zephyrs player, front office exec, fan, etc....WARNING, AMPLE PROFANITY.

The Reno Zephyrs are in complete daresay. I want the Zephyrs to succeed, I really do but things look absolutely abysmal. I want to be an optimist but out top performer this season is Ramón Leach. That would be fine except that he made over 14 mill, has just a 3.1 WAR, is about to turn 35, is eligible for free agency AND...wants 22 million per year for 6 seasons. Put down the crack pipe RAAAAMMMMOOOO''''''''NNNNNN......

"The physical damage is repairable but, the psychic wound may be permanent." Well, we have sucked for 5 straight seaons now so we must have a gaggle of prospects ready to hit the PEBA.....right?!?! Nope.

We shall trudge on because....."pain don't end the world."

F ME!!!

Gunner goes down with Sore shoulder for year. If you take away his 1st game .2 IP and 9 runs, I am willing to bet he was the best pitcher in the league..

Very neat sim for the Bears taking 2 of 3 from Kalamazoo and sweeping the Wind Dancers. Somehow, we are within striking distance of the last WC spot (2 games) and home-field for the WC (2.5 games). Gilbert Murray is back just in time to make a playoff push!

Sidenote - when do the AA playoffs start? Season ended a week ago and still no postseason games on the calendar.

They have begun already - Wild card series have begun - looks like Sherwood is due to play the winner of the Beppu-Gatineau series...

These late injuries are killing Ky ..... starting 3B-SS-2B, replacement starting SS, and 2 starting pitchers all on the shelf now (2 more went down this sim with collisions on a base)

fall to 1 game back of Florida
