All spring I was waffling between Yanez and a 1 year FA rental at DH. I would have been forced to DFA Yanez if he didn't make the roster so that was the deciding factor. Now, he is going to get a longer leash, just to see what he can do.Dinosaurs wrote:That is kind of interesting, there hasn't been anything particularly stand out from his performances over the three seasons he's played. Pretty bizarre.Zephyrs wrote:LF Sancho Yánez currently has an arbitration estimate of 3.15 million for next season. I predict a huge breakout season or someone will certainly be a non-tender. Is this a predictor of future performance? I fail to see how his 88 OPS+ and -1.2 WAR warrants over 3 million per season.

Yes, somehow StatsLab did not see the loss of our last year's 4.2 WAR 2B Boswell as a Key Departure for the Codgers either....but apparently we are really going to miss those 20 innings of 5.85 ERA put up by middle reliever Chris Taylor. I see he is still a free agent....could be a key acquisition for some lucky club!Borealis wrote:How is the $23M addition of Theron Boswell not a key addition, StatsLab??

After a few hours of cleaning up AAA/AA, we are ready! Probably should have browsed the minors a little earlier but was too busy getting to know the ML squad...

Aurora is ready to get this 'Train Arollin'' as we start off with the Zephyrs. Some difficult decision making, as noted by Ray D. Enzé. The Big 3 starters were sharp in the spring and look ready to go. We will be missing Pope for a week, but he should be good to go for week 2. He hit .387 in a 40% spring schedule, and will go right into the line-up and skip a rehab assignment. After 4 at Reno, Aurora will host their long-time rival's Bakersfield to open the Home season.

Statslab has this year's Rule 5 draft pick as a "Potential Key Call-Up." They must mean call up from the disabled list.

Wow, was not expecting a start like this... we opened up with a 4-game sweep of Yuma at home and then took 2 of 3 at Aurora. Great pitching and deep into games has been our key, the bullpen has only need to throw 10.2 IP and allowed just 2 runs.

2 series wins to start the season took the edge off my nerves, but again the injury bug hits the Gnats... With DH Colin Crow out 5 weeks and Jim Klein out for a week after being hit by a Pitch in the knee by Jose Martinez at Reno.

(Opening Day!!!)(Opening Day!!!) - What more can we ask for!!!
Starting the season with a 4-game sweep? Neat!! Barfing it up to your dreaded rivals to open your home season? Not So Neat...
Neat: Theron Boswell begins his Aurora career with a 4-5, 2 R, 2 RBI game on Opening Day, and continues for the week for a 11-23, 2-2B, 2-3B, 7 R and 4 RBI, joining a collection of guys who changed teams over the offseason who began the season on fire (see the Evil Evas collection...)... Does Spring Training mean anything? Nope - after a very poor spring (9-48), Paul Carlisle begins 2025 7-19, with a grand slam... Mike Hale was 8-23, but only 2 R, thanks to an 0-4 on SB attempts - advice to all: Don't try to run on Joe Johnson... 'Massacre' and Romano with scoreless outings (6 & 5 IP respectively)...
Not So: Harley Schneider (4-24) and Jesus Negrete (4-19, despite two HR) - again, Spring means nothing... Eric Perkins 3 HR allowed in his lone start (the ugly home opener v. Bakersfield) and should take note: 'Terror' went 14.2 IP, 3 R, 12 K, 1 BB, 0 HR in his two AAA starts...
Heading back to the squad is River Pope after a brief stay on the DL - and he's right into the mix in his familiar lead-off spot... Also off the DL is MR Felix Pena, but after his elbow surgery, he'll take most of his rehab assignment at Thornton before returning to the mix...
What's on Tap:
Aurora continues their 17-game Season Opening stretch by jumping into the fire straight out as the New & Improved Evil Evas descend on Northern Lights for 4, before heading to Fargo and the Crystal Lake...

Just noticed Brian Stinger Gutierrez may be the biggest glitch in the draft. 4.5 stars by OSA. Was unhittable at Notre Dame in 2023, hurt his hamstring for 4 months and hasn't come of the DL since. Smart kid so didn't flunk out…lol

Well... Penn State, but what's hysterical is that his Status lists him 'eligible from High School'...Coqui wrote:Just noticed Brian Stinger Gutierrez may be the biggest glitch in the draft. 4.5 stars by OSA. Mini-rant:
Why on earth would the AI start RF Juan Marquez at 3B when my DH Emilio Manuel is listed as a 3B?
Seriously, was there such a problem with listing starters as back-ups at other positions that we had to change the sim and introduce this problem?

This should be a great series. I'll be eager to see how my reconstituted squad holds up in the very unfriendly confines of Aurora.Borealis wrote:What's on Tap:

This has gone on for a long time - Catchers at SS and the outfield, my DH, an outfielder of horrid defensive ability, at 1B... I think the only way to avoid it is to micromanage at the 7-day level, which I hate - I'm so afraid I'll forget at the most critical week and really get a crap lineup...Longshoremen wrote:Mini-rant:

I have my RH+DH and LH+DH line up set and then just have 7 day line up auto fill. I think it is one button to make that happen.Borealis wrote:... The only time I make manual adjustments is if I want to guarantee someone a day off for rest.
