I think in the right role you could probably still squeeze a few more years of good baseball out of them. Especially a guy like Juan Garcia. He had his best years just recently. Good pickups!Bears wrote:Made a tiny splash... okay maybe there was a ripple in the water and no splash... by picking up 6 free agents in the last sim. No major financial commitments but hopefully provided some more depth in weak spots.

It's kind of exciting that our Opening Day coincides with that MLB Fantasy League. That seems a first, although they sure sim at a slow rate - they're only in-game 2017...

Well, I never thought i'd see the day where we'd lead the league in wins/losses (even if it's only spring training) with a 17-5 record.
Of course none of these games really matter, but it was a good morale boost for the boys down here in Louisiana after all these years sitting in the basement in most statistical categories.
We are not sure if our team is really as good as the record implies, even though we have solid players in several key spots (Zavala, Swift, Nash), and what seems to be a potentially healthy pitching staff for the first time since the great purge of the 2020-21 off-season when I took over, so, things could be looking up.
Last season's late push to end up at .500 was spoiled by our division rivals Kentucky, and we get to start this season against the same Thoroughbreds. Time to get an instant "Trial by fire"
BRING ON 2025! PLAY BALL!

I love the synchronization between MLB and PEBA this season. Really adds to opening day feel.

Yeah and we play 4 vs Florida and 3 vs Kentucky to start the season, and without OhayashiTrendsetters wrote:

Can't complain after finishing on top of the division during Spring Training.
We start the season with Canton and West Virginia and I'm interested in how my team stands in the division this season. Cedeno had a hot Spring so hopefully, he can get back to his 2023 form after dipping at bit last year.

You will be getting the softer more gentle Thoroughbreds this time.Trendsetters wrote: Last season's late push to end up at .500 was spoiled by our division rivals Kentucky, and we get to start this season against the same Thoroughbreds. Time to get an instant "Trial by fire"

LF Sancho Yánez currently has an arbitration estimate of 3.15 million for next season. I predict a huge breakout season or someone will certainly be a non-tender. Is this a predictor of future performance? I fail to see how his 88 OPS+ and -1.2 WAR warrants over 3 million per season.

Re: Neat stuff sim thread - PEBA 2025 - Season 19
With this sim's catching up of Stats Lab (thanks Commish!), we have the annual preseason projections.
At a glance, if my Longshoremen only get one additional win out of a $38M increase in payroll, I should be fired. StatsLab thinks the offseason's biggest winners were West Virginia (+7 wins) and Duluth (+11 wins), while the biggest losers were Havana (-8 wins), Arlington (-7 wins), and Yuma (-6 wins).
Other observations:
- StatsLab likes the IL's whole Trans Atlantic Division to finish under .500.
- StatsLab thinks the IL's playoff participants will be exactly the same group of teams in 2025 as it was in 2024, with the Alleghenies and Bureaucrats flip-flopping as division titleists and wild card.
- StatsLab thinks that Duluth and Shin Seki will be new winners of their divisions, while Aurora repeats in the Desert Hills.
By the way, was anyone able to access in-game preseason predictions?

Well, if we lose to WV in 5, I hope it's not a pair of W's by Gunner...
How is the $23M addition of Theron Boswell not a key addition, StatsLab??

I've never seen the in-game predictions. I assumed we don't generate those.
The stats lab numbers are useful but seem to miss a lot of stuff, at least in the case of the Leones. We've made some changes that fell under the radar in the statslab assesment. We could be much better or markedly worse in 2025. Either way we're probably looking at a bit of a decline in the next several years. We've got a pretty good talent gap developing in the farm system. I seriously doubt it'll be able to provide enough quality to provide the talent level needed to get to the next level anytime soon. Who knows? We'll see how it all pans out. makes the drafts fun anyway. :)

That is kind of interesting, there hasn't been anything particularly stand out from his performances over the three seasons he's played. Pretty bizarre.Zephyrs wrote:LF Sancho Yánez currently has an arbitration estimate of 3.15 million for next season. I predict a huge breakout season or someone will certainly be a non-tender.
