Canton gets needed depth in the high minors pitching ranks and makes an offseason spending spree a bit cheaper.

Looks like a reasonable gamble for both sides. I suspect Pérez might end up an astute pickup for Canton, but I can see the allure of a 2nd round draft pick in what's shaping up to be a deep draft.
