What part of PEBA/LRS do you enjoy the most?
What part of PEBA/LRS do you enjoy the most?
I was just curious about what was the most enjoyable aspect of the PEBA/LRS experience for us as owners. Let us know what you think.

Hot on the heels of our discussion about Single A age limits...I vote draft. Trading is fun too, but the draft was an unexpected surprise, especially with all the variance in scout opinions.

I would vote writing articles but seeing the players actually perform ranks high up there as well

I'm wondering what poll option Matt of San Antonio will choose...

If it's anything other than "Trading", I'll eat my hat.Trendsetters wrote:I am guessing other.....
As far as "Other" goes, I peg Denny as being the most likely to fall under that category. I don't know about that guy...

I went with trading as well, but it was a close call with participating in forums.

The biggest thrill for me is finding a player that nobody wants, putting him in a situation to succeed , and having him turn out to be a very productive role player. Two examples would be RP-Lewis Keys and 3B-Ángel Fabián. Neither one played above replacement level in the PEBA but they had a combined VORP of 40.5 last season and will make just 574k combined in 2011. Of course I've taken some chances on some other players that haven't worked out quite as well.

Judging by his timid playoff performances, Ollie Morris unfortunately fails to share in your obsession.Codgers wrote:I enjoy WINNING.Borealis - Commissioner wrote:As far as "Other" goes, I peg Denny as being the most likely to fall under that category. I don't know about that guy...

this is the one thing i'm jealous about when it comes to the LRS. without intending to start an international incident, some of the better AAAA players in PEBA could turn out to be really solid options for LRS. while we all find diamonds in the rough in PEBA, rarely -- if ever -- are they cheap cast-offs who will contribute in a meaningful way immediately ... we have to start with the 20 year-olds and nurse them along. it's the most fun i have, but i'd love to be to spot a 28 year, snag him for next to nothing, and get a 30 VORP out of him.Steel Dragons wrote:The biggest thrill for me is finding a player that nobody wants, putting him in a situation to succeed , and having him turn out to be a very productive role player.

I voted amateur draft, but trading and writing articles were close contenders.

Had I been able to cast a second vote, "Forum discussion" would have been my response. Checking these forums during the day and corresponding with everyone is a real joy.

I voted for "organizing minors". This was the closest option to what I enjoy the most: watching my own players develop. This includes incoming draftees and ex-players I traded away. I like to see young guys develop into stars especially if those players who I originally had low expectations for. Surprises are always fun. On the flip side... even though I do not like seeing it, it's always interesting to see busts and flop signings too. The "mystery" portion of the game is what I find enjoying. It is the mysteries that forces an owner to adapt that I like dealing with.
