2010 PEBA season scores and status changes

#1 Post by John »

You can see your season score by going to the Manager --> History page in game. But what the heck does it mean? Good question.

The exact formula behind the computation of the season score is a mystery. However, we've learned enough to know that about more than just wins and losses. Team finances absolutely factor in, for instance; a team with a low budget will get more score for their wins than one with a high budget. Talent level and owner expectations (were you expected to rebuild or contend) seem to factor in as well, as may awards won by players and your previous season's record.

That's all well and good... but how does your season score compare to the other teams in the PEBA? Well, let's have a look, shall we?

NOTE: The first number (shown in blue) is your '10 season score. The number in parenthesis is the change from your '09 season score (red indicates a loss, green a gain). The other numbers represent your previous season scores from most recent to earliest, respectively.
  • ARL: 25 (+25) ... 0 / 44 / 32
  • AUR: 71 (-22) ... 93 / 68 / 8
  • BAK: 17 (-28) ... 45 / 58 / 65
  • CAN: 26 (+13) ... 13 / 21 / 14
  • CST: 81 (+18) ... 63 / 33 / 56
  • CON: 26 (+15) ... 11 / 10 / 15
  • CL: 64 (-1) ... 65 / 75 / 63
  • DUL: 13 (+4) ... 9 / 15 / 26
  • FAR: 46 (+24) ... 22 / 15 / 7
  • FLA: 63 (+37) ... 26 / 27 / 18
  • GLO: 16 (-14) ... 30 / 46 / 22
  • KAL: 27 (-7) ... 34 / 37 / 53
  • KEN: 8 (-5) ... 13 / 16 / 12
  • LON: 51 (+21) ... 30 / 13 / 23
  • MAN: 13 (-47) ... 60 / 21 / 14
  • NJ: 3 (-47) ... 50 / 53 / 86
  • NO: 39 (-32) ... 71 / 73 / 61
  • OMA: 11 (-5) ... 16 / 13 / 31
  • PS: 49 (-5) ... 54 / 44 / 63
  • REN: 23 (+3) ... 20 / 25 / 20
  • SA: 31 (+21) ... 10 / 12 / 45
  • TEM: 30 (+13) ... 17 / 16 / 0
  • WV: 24 (+24) ... 0 / 35 / 4
  • YUM: 0 (-6) ... 6 / 7 / 17
This year we see more radical shifts in scores than in any previous season. 67% of teams experienced a gain or loss of double digits from last year's season score. Six teams posted an impressive increase of at least 21 points. Florida led that charge with a gain of 37 points on the heels of their first-ever 100-win season and playoff appearance. Five teams suffered losses in the twenties or worse. Manchester and New Jersey tied for the greatest drop at 47 points. As you would expect, the highest season score belonged to the Rodriguez Cup-winning Charleston Statesmen, who amassed an impressive 81 points. Only one team this year got hit with the dreaded goose egg; Yuma was unfortunate to end the season with a score of 0. And in the all-important "Battle of the Dobneys", Brad of Canton took home the prize. His score of 26 and gain of 13 were both the highest amongst the four brothers.

So what does all this mean? Absolutely nothing! Season score has no bearing on anything whatsoever. The only thing to get out of it are bragging rights. ;)

In addition to the scores, a couple status changes were announced at the conclusion of the season:
  • Canton: Fan Loyalty DROPS to "Very Good"
  • Kentucky: Fan Loyalty DROPS to "Pathetic"
  • West Virginia: Fan Loyalty DROPS to "Great"

By my count it was six teams that posted a gain of +21. But who's counting?

Sort of odd that West Virginia would have the nice increase in the season score, but take the hit to loyalty.

It's been great of the fans to stick with the team for so long. After the bitter disappointment that was 2009, I was surprised the fans showed up at all this year. I don't really hold their decreased interest against them. In our first rebuilding year, we finished with the same record as our disaster of a season in '09, and we got Alberto Benitez to retire. I'm calling it a successful season.
