What to Expect in OOTP 24

#1 Post by Wind Dancers »

With our migration to OOTP 24 coming tonight, I'd like to go into more detail about some of the changes you will see.

1. The new INT FA system
This is the big one. The new international amateur system changes the way we sign international complex players from the passive system we've had in the past, to a more active one. Traditionally, each PEBA team makes 16 discoveries per season at random and then can bid on a pool of 32 Amateur FA's. This system was very passive, and a good chunk of teams didn't get to participate in bidding on players worth anything.

The new system, each PEBA team will make 8 discoveries per year, but will be able to bid on a pool of 128 amateur FA's to bid on, meaning there's theoretically enough for each team to sign 4 players each.

- Training/Interest. 3 months before the INT signing period starts, the pool will be revealed and you can send a select group of players to "training". You can send 10 int FA players you are interested in each month (so 3 training months) to training via the Scouting > International menu. This will allow you to build scouting knowledge, build that player's interest in signing for you (relationship), and determine how many other teams are also interested in this player (League Interest). This system is much more visual and there is usually a good chunk of decent players for everyone to bid on and every team should have a group of players interested in them.

2. Cash
Cash in OOTP24, as we knew it in the past, is now called "Total Money Available" and is calculated a bit differently and correlates with starting/ending balance. Once we get into the 2nd season of 24, this will be a bit clearer. As of right now, we are manually fixing the season 1 money available due to a migration issue with the new financial system, but everything should work on its own in the future. Keep an eye on your money once we migrate over.

Those are the only specific things that will really affect us for now. There were also some 3d changes for those of you that like watching the game replays. But if you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
