Imperial League

Seaboard
1. West Virginia
2. Manchester
3. Arlington
4. New Jersey
5. Hartford
The Seaboard continues to be WVA's division, but Manchester and Arl‌ington are starting to make waves... it will be hard to take over, though.

Dixie
1. Florida
2. Kentucky
3. San Antonio
4. New Orleans
5. Charleston
In what may be the most frugal division in baseball, the Dixie has three teams in the bottom third of payroll and is fronted by two teams that are only in the middle.

Trans Atlantic
1. Havana
2. Amsterdam
3. London
4. San Juan
5. Scottish
6. Gloucester
I predict London barely misses a playoff berth here. Their team is very interesting and with the addition of Eremitani, I can see them shocking the world.

IL Awards Winners
Royal Raker Winner: Gordon Knopp
Golden Arm Winner: George Moss
Wunderkind Winner: Michael Roberts

Sovereign League

Great Lakes
1. Fargo
2. Kalamazoo
3. Duluth
4. Crystal Lake
5. Madison
Fargo has a great rotation and a very good lineup. Kalamazoo will play them tough all year, but I don't think they have the ability to hold them off... it's not all bad news for Kalamazoo, though...

Desert Hills
1. Aurora
2. Bakersfield
3. Reno
4. Palm Springs
5. Tempe
6. Yuma
You can make an argument for three teams to be in first place in this division. I tend to side with Aurora in toss-ups like this. I like their signing of Montoya and their rotation a lot.

Rising Sun
1. Toyama
2. Shin Seiki
3. Niihama-shi
4. Neo-Tokyo
5. Okinawa
Toyama's so solid... Niihama is making moves and, very much like London, I believe just misses the playoffs thanks to Kalamazoo, but it's down to the wire.

SL Awards Winners
Royal Raker Winner: Pedro Flores
Golden Arm Winner: Cheong-Sang Yun
Wunderkind Winner: Jin-Song Zambrano

Postseason

IL Wild Card Winner - Top 3 seeds get a bye
Amsterdam over Kentucky in 5 games

SL Wild Card Winner - Top 3 seeds get a bye
Kalamazoo over Shin Seiki in 4 games

IL Division Series Winners - Top 3 seeds vs. Wild Card winner
Florida over Amsterdam in 5 games
West Virginia over Havana in 5 games

SL Division Series Winners - Top 3 seeds vs. Wild Card winner
Kalamazoo over Toyama in 6 games
Fargo over Aurora in 6 games

League Championship Series Winners
IL: Florida over West Virginia in 6 games
SL: Kalamazoo over Fargo in 7 games

PEC Winner
Florida over Kalamazoo in 5 games

The rare three-peat on a relatively shoestring budget... it would be a heckuva story.

Yuma's got the inside scoop on the coming season. We've hired as Futurist Consultants a group of musicians known as "A Tribe Called Red," who not only compose and perform futurist music but also occasionally conduct musical workshops to help participants envision their own futures. With the Yuma office staff as their guinea pigs, A Tribe Called Red musically evoked the sounds and smells of a Native American sweat lodge, hummed and chanted the Yuman Beings into a sort of trance, then invited them to speak the futures they dreamed. Here's what the Great Collective Hallucination wrought:

Imperial League

Seaboard
1. Manchester
2. West Virginia
3. Arlington
4. Hartford
5. New Jersey

The British are coming! The British are coming! The arrogant swagger of the mountain boys from Alleghenie is about to be shouted down by the Royal British Marching Band.

Dixie
1. Charleston
2. New Orleans
3. Kentucky
4. San Antonio
5. Florida

PEBA's most talented team, the Fart Meisters from Florida, stink up the league, for a change. Their problems start when no American airline will book the team on any of its flights. Officially claiming the team is "unwashed, unclean, and unsanitary," anonymous sources in the FAA admit the real reason is their farting smells so bad the flight attendants union refused to staff planes when the Fart Riders fly. Amtrak simply leased a couple old train cars, including one with berths, and hitched the smelly Floridians to the back of their cross country routes. So exhausted by train travel, the team dropped into a slump worthy of Yuman Beings and sunk to the basement faster than a Satchel Paige Dipsy-Do pitch.

Trans Atlantic
1. London
2. Scottish
3. Gloucester
4. Amsterdam
5. Havana

The British are coming! The British are coming! The invasion from the British Isles arrives in the Trans Atlantic division with a resounding bagpipe fugue. The Scottish nearly overtake the Londoners, but the Queen will have none of it and order her subjects in Scotland to cease and desist. A couple players, loyal to their queen, underperform (we dare not say "throw") in a few games down the stretch and London takes the division. Meanwhile, as the entire PEBAverse's eyes were glued to the pennant race in Great Britain, San Juan disappeared from the map. Literally. Rising seas combined with a tidal wave started by volcanic explosion deep in the Atlantic Ocean swept most of the coastal town of San Juan into the sea. At the time, the Coqui were playing away games in Amsterdam, and playing very well. But when they heard about the disaster at home, most flew back to where San Juan used to be and volunteered to help in the relief effort. A second tidal wave, launched by an earthquake probably started itself by the earlier underwater volcanic explosion, swept the bulk of the Coqui starting lineup out to sea. Those who survived the ordeal simply went home or to relief agencies to spend the rest of the summer with their families.

Sovereign League

Great Lakes
1. Crystal Lake
2. Kalamazoo
3. Fargo
4. Madison
5. Duluth

Crystal Lake will open the 2035 season playing like the West Virginia Alleghenies. Unbeatable for nearly two months, the Sandgnats will coast to the Great Lakes title. Pundits and analysts will ponder the cause of Crystal lake's dramatic turn around, but few will realize the answer lies in Crystal Lakes new source of drinking water.

Desert Hills
1. Reno
2. Aurora
3. Yuma
4. Bakersfield
5. Tempe
6. Palm Springs

In this division, your team has to be some sort of natural phenomenon to win. The Borealis' light shines bright again this year, but the Zephyr breezes will blow them out of the top spot. Meanwhile, while no one is looking, the Sonoran Desert's dry Arroyos will fill with Colorado River Water and wash the prosaic Knights and Bears away. The Old Codgers will finally be just too old to compete.

Rising Sun
Bad news for the Pacific Rim communities: the Fukushima disaster strikes again. No, not another melt down, but the Japanese decide to release highly toxic radioactive water they've kept stored since the 2011 disaster. It spreads through all the coastal communities of Japan, Korea, China, the Philippines, Malaysia and the Pacific Islanders. The water also releases air-borne radioactivity which floats inland. The combined disaster decimates cities and towns and countries on the western side of the Pacific Rim. All public events are cancelled as residents flee to the mountains. Baseball dies a silent death in the Pacific.

Postseason

With so many lost teams and players, PEBA's Commissioner replaces the current playoff system with a double-elimination tournament with all 5 of the pennant winning teams: Reno, Crystal Lake, London, Charleston and Manchester. The Sandgnats, guzzling their new water supply, are unbeaten in four games and declared the 2035 PEC champions!

Re: 2035 Predictions

#4 Post by Borealis »

Making the bold choice of predicting before a spring game has been played, here is how 2035 will play out!!

Imperial League
Seaboard
1. West Virginia
2. Arlington
3. Manchester
4. New Jersey
5. Hartford

West Virginia may have jettisoned some talent, but there's still too much here not to win the division... Arlington has made some bold offseason moves and that should be enough to finish 2nd in what could be a tight, crowded rest of the division. Manchester and New Jersey will be the Battle of Expansion Past and Present. The nod may go to Manchester, but don't be shocked if NJ plays that well and finishes 3rd. The big question will be: Do ARL/MAN/NJ/HAR beat each other enough that 2nd place means no playoff spot?

Dixie
1. Florida
2. Kentucky
3. San Antonio
4. New Orleans
5. Charleston

Does Florida wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and see West Virginia or does West Virginia wake up in the morning and see Florida? Either way, like the Alleghenies, the F'heads - er, F'riders are the team to beat... Like 2034, Kentucky is 2nd - mostly by default, with the other three battling for the last three spots... Charleston has some interesting pieces on the horizon - but not this year... Only one playoff spot here?

Trans Atlantic
1. Amsterdam
2. Havanna
3. London
4. San Juan
5. Scottish
6. Gloucester

For now the Lions are the cream of the crop, but the Leones have a bounty on the way, and with luck, could steal the show... London, now selling calzones in the stands every game, not just when the Calzones are in town, could have enough offense to make the summer across The Pond very interesting, and push the proud yet fading Coqui down a notch... The Scottish and Gloucester will finish far behind, with experience earning the higher finish.

IL Awards Winners
Royal Raker Winner: Someone in WV or FLA - take your pick and then flip a coin...
Golden Arm Winner: 'Old Nick' wants you to know he is the greatest pitcher in PEBA history with GA #8, but if you wanted a dark horse, try Derek Valera at Manchester...
Wunderkind Winner: Giampaolo is the easy pick, Otani might be the better bet...

Sovereign League
Great Lakes
1. Fargo
2. Kalamazoo
3. Duluth
4. Crystal Lake
5. Madison

In a division that looks to be going down to the wire, Fargo found it's replacement for Molina in the rotation, while Kzoo lost a bit of talent, giving the Dinos the edge - though both teams should be playoff-bound once more... Duluth has had a busy offseason, and that should show as they edge past the'Gnats for 3rd - while Madison makes it interesting... Crystal Lake closer to last that first? It's criminal...

Desert Hills
1. Aurora
2. Reno
3. Bakersfield
4. Tempe
5. Yuma
6. Palm Springs

The defending division champs get the nod - especially if their youthful hitters are productive... Reno and BAK were busy bees this offseason, but it was the Zephyrs who made bold, "We are all in on the title" moves... Tempe and Yuma continue to improve, leaving the Codgers with a 6pm bed time... A wild card from the DH? It'll come down to how the improved teams in the SL handle the RS and...

Rising Sun
1. Toyama
2. Neo-Tokyo
3. Shin Seiki
4. Niihama-shi
5. Okinawa

... how much the Rising Sun beats up on itself... The top three could finish in any manner - Neo-Tokyo making the best improvements, while the Win-D's had a quite offseason, creating an intriguing scenario... The Evil Evas were busy, too, but was it enough? Don't be surprised if the Ghosts finish above .500 - giving the division 4 teams over the mark - and even in sniffing range of third come September... The Shisa are found petitioning to move to the IL...

Imperial League

Seaboard
1. West Virginia - The Alleghenies continue their super retool by getting younger and better AGAIN.
2. Arlington - Some impactful additions to an already solid core push the 'Crats above .500 and within striking distance of the playoffs.
3. Manchester - Knight and Valera continue to develop and lead a thin roster to a tight third place finish.
4. New Jersey - The Hitmen look better than any recent expansion team, but what they feature in depth they lack in star power.
5. Hartford - While still home to some talented players, Hartford is initiating a deep rebuild and anyone finding success is likely to find a new home mid-season.

Dixie
1. Florida - That Knopp... so dreamy!
2. Kentucky - Stuck behind the back-to-back champs again, a talented organization with a Canseco leading the charge is a wild card front runner.
3. San Antonio - The death knells of the free agency splurge of yesteryear are the same as those for playoff hopes in San Antonio.
4. New Orleans - Little improvement of note to a squad that lost 100 last year.
5. Charleston - I think this 26-man is the front runner for the 2036 #1. The previous rebuilds can be ignored, Jason is going all in on this one.

Trans Atlantic
1. Amsterdam - The return of Maruyama should be a welcome addition to last year's division winner.
2. Havana - Close behind the Lions with just a little less in the way of pitching talent, a front runner for another wild card run.
3. San Juan - Roberto Salazar and Wally Glasser are not to be ignored, but this team lacks the pitching to keep up with the other Trans Atlantic titans.
4. London - Could easily finish third, but new additions often take time to acclimate, and so they're a step behind SJ at this point.
5. Scottish - They aren't built to win now, and they aren't built to lose. A deep, solid enough roster, but lacks star power after Vargas.
6. Gloucester - This will be another fine example of the deep rebuild expansion mold and will challenge Charleston and Yuma for draft dominance.

IL Awards Winners
Royal Raker Winner: CF Gordon Knopp - As I mentioned, so, so dreamy. Think he breaks $60M in his extension?
Golden Arm Winner: SP Enrique Vazquez - Old Nick is timeless.
Wunderkind Winner: 2B Michael Roberts - I don't see Shimizu holding off the top PEBA prospect.

Sovereign League

Great Lakes
1. Kalamazoo - Flores and Ornelza are Royal Raker front runners while Yun is the same for the Golden Arm Award. Perez and a host of other solid talents keep the Badgers on top.
2. Fargo - The Glass God, Pat Watson, has lost a step and Santos did little to convince anyone he was worthy of that salary. Expect a bounce back from him, but it's not enough to keep up with the Badgers.
3. Duluth - It's hard to place this team third, but it seems teams with this much turnover take time to gel, and I think they'll stumble enough early to keep them out of the division race.
4. Crystal Lake - The 'gnats have become something of a tweener team, but they are consistently talented and could be in the wild card picture.
5. Madison - Madison can't seem to get over the hump, and despite a talented roster that sports a dynamic offense behind Garza and Aguilar, they have a few too many holes to compete in a highly competitive Great Lakes division.

Desert Hills
1. Aurora - The young pitching is enough for them to squeak by again.
2. Reno - A powerhouse offense, but I can't see another 5 WAR season from Valdez, and so the pitching behind Ayers is just barely too limiting. They'll be within striking distance of the division title though, and Scott has been aggressive before, so keep an eye out for strong moves midsummer.
3. Bakersfield - The roster behind superstars Mendoza and Mata has underperformed for too long. The addition of Rimfire is exciting but the loss of Ortega is nearly as deflating.
4. Tempe - The farewell tours of Barry and Munoz will catch attention, but it's Gill, Jamarillo, Rincon, and Velazquez that fans should watch closely.
5. Palm Springs - I feel like Pablo Ortiz is the kind of player to mail it in after signing a $150M extension.
6. Yuma - Can Yuma compete for the #1 while trotting out the likes of Pin, Sun, and Cedeno?

Rising Sun
1. Toyama - I
2. Shin Seiki - hate
3. Neo Tokyo - this
4. Niihama - division. But I'm excited for my rookies.
5. Okinawa - Better than you think, but they just have to play Toyoma and SS and NT too often to show it.

SL Awards Winners
Royal Raker Winner: RF Juan Carlos Ornelza
Golden Arm Winner: SP Roberto Rivera
Wunderkind Winner: SS Jin-Song Zambrano

Postseason

IL Wild Card Winner - Top 3 seeds get a bye
Havana over Kentucky in 4 games

SL Wild Card Winner - Top 3 seeds get a bye

No, Dan, Yuma will not be competing for the #1 draft pick this year. As you point out, our pitching is too damn good to finish last. I think we'll be trying to play .400 ball this season. And next year ... WACHA!

I agree, Pil should get you at least a dozen wins, and your other young soon-to-be-superstars should keep you competitive. I wouldn't be surprised if you had a .500 season.

8-o Horroshow! A .500 season would mean massive depression in the town of Yuma, a plague of suicides, and rioting in the streets! The last time we had a non-losing season, we lost the county sheriff, our manager, our owners, and the taco truck. What will be lost this year if such an ominous fate awaits us?
