New GM in Kentucky

#1 Post by Thoroughbreds »

In a surprise move Kentucky has made a change in the GM spot bringing in relative newcomer Sean Torgerson. Even though the Thoroughbreds won 90 games last season, Owner Hector Shatner thought things were a little stale and the players in the dressing room were too happy finishing in 2nd place, well back of Florida. Catching the powerhouse Fastriders and making up the 29 game difference from last season would be a huge stretch and very unlikely to happen, but by bringing in Torgerson, Shatner is hoping the team can show a little more fight this season.
Torgerson has some talent to help in his quest of bringing a championship to Kentucky. Some key players to keep an eye on this season:

CF Pedro Bermudez - At only 21 years old is Bermudez ready to grab a full time role in the outfield? Bermudez is the Thoroughbreds top prospect and he showed very well. In 42 games he had a war of 2.2. Kentucky's OF is deep so he will have to continue to perform to win the spot.

DH/OF Rocky Kowalski - Kowalski has firmly entrenched himself in the middle of the Kentucky's order. He hit 32 homers and led the PEBA with 114 RBI's. Similar numbers are expected this season.

SS Bang-Xao You You is one of the league's best defensive shortstops who also contributes offensively. Last season he stole 61 bases and was caught only 4 times. As he hits 30 years old will he be able to maintain his productivity.

SP Michael Doyle With Kentucky's starting rotation getting a little older Doyle with be relied on heavily to lead the line. HIs ERA has risen the last 3 years, but with his outstanding stuff, Doyle will be looking to buck that trend.

Anything short of the playoffs would be a huge disappointment for Kentucky this season
