2030 Draft and miscellaneous

#1 Post by Board of the PEBA »

This weekend is the 2030 PEBA Amateur Draft and the Live event will be held at 10am PT/1PM ET on both Saturday and Sunday, January 18-19. GMs are expected to attend, and attendance will earn GMs 25 CP. We will draft within StatsLab as usual and we will hold the live chat in the PEBA Draft channel on Slack (please no posting there until Saturday). Here teams can announce their selections as we go along, and the usual, jovial, conversation can be had! GMs who cannot attend the event and draft 'Live' are expected to have a draft list posted in StatsLab to cover at least 5 rounds (~140 players). It is HIGHLY recommended that all GMs post such a list, to cover themselves in cases of emergency! Life Happens...

Dylan will once again be our workhorse behind the scenes, and we will get a new file up Sunday evening, after the draft. At that point you can make the proper roster moves and begin the process of offering bonuses to those who require them. The next 'game' sim will be Wednesday, January 22, to allow GMs time to manage their post-draft teams. I will be hosting the draft in Slack on Saturday, but I will be remotely drafting from the parking lot of Levi's Stadium on Sunday, so my troubleshooting abilities will be minimal - I'll be burning up the cell waves on my phone... Good thing it's a late game! Reg should be around, and hopefully can lend a hand as needed.

With the advent, this season, of our new Rookie League, the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition, you'll want to keep a closer eye on your needs. There were a number of newly released 'young' free agents (thanks to the corruption case in Florida), and they can help you fill your Rookie roster, but this years draft will be 20 rounds, with the hope that it will provide opportunities for teams to draft for their Rookie team needs.

For all you wheelers and dealers, please note that any trade involving 2030 draft picks must be made before sim time Thursday (5pm PT). After the draft, teams may begin trading 2031 picks. The in-game list should be accurate, as should the Traded Pick forum. If you haven't already, please be sure to cross check these and make sure you have been credited with the proper picks - with picks having become a hot commodity in the past calendar year, it's certainly a possibility I've missed one or two. I apologize in advance.

I think that's all for the draft. Also be aware that All-Star voting has begun in StatsLab, and if you haven't voted, please do so! This years All-Star game will be held February 6th, so all votes must be in by sim time on February 3rd - the teams will be announced in that sim's results. The 24th Annual PEBA All-Star game will be held at Elderberry Field in Palm Springs. During the All-Star festivities we will announce the sight for the PEBA 25 game... hint: it'll be an Imperial League venue...

To add on to what is listed out in the post above. In addition to making sure you have lists set up, please let me know if you will not be able to attend either of the days. If you let me know you will not be available for your pick and you made a list, It will make auto'ing your pick a lot quicker.

Mike and the Board,

If I'm reading the Traded Pick Forum list correctly, Yuma has a pick in the supplemental round and one more in the second round, neither of which show up on the list in StatsLab. They do, however, show up in game. Don't know if that's a problem, but I thought you should know.

I'm not certain of the details, but I think that the list will update soon - manually? There is a lot of more recent changes to the draft order that are not listed there - for instance, Aurora has a second Supplemental pick, and Shin Seiki has picked up some recent picks. We will be sure to have the list properly credited in StatsLab before we begin. Thanks for pointing this out!

Once we have the draft picks are locked in (Tomorrow's sim) we will upload the final draft order to StatsLab.
