2 more Triples and Andy Sharp all-time leader.
Another neat fact I learned: Free Agent Alonso 'Raptor' Rodriguez has the most loses with 1 team in a career 153(2nd all-time). You hear that Yuma? The Raptor wants to fly once again!!!!

Re: Neat Stuff, Post-Sim Thread: 2029, Season 23
They're calling it 'De Ja Vu on The Front Range' in Colorado, as Aurora - kind of left for dead, has caught and passed the Bears for the Desert Hills lead - shocking, and yet... Neat! Amongst some of the Neatness...
- 'Tugboat' continues to shine - despite a shaky start v. Reno - basically he had no control this day, as he walked 4 and struck out just 1 - but the 3 runs he gave up were all in the first, so the remainder of his 5 inning stint was satisfactory... Then he faced Yuma and was back to his old self: 8 IP, 5 H, 5 K, no walks... It's the return and fine efforts by Randy Smith that have Aurora thinking they just might...
- Ricardo Zamora, the former #1 who's string play last spring and the start of the 2028 season stimulated the 'Fudd' deal - only to SUCK the rest of the way (and the start of this year), has been on a nice little roll the past 13-games: 19-47 (.404), with 6-2B and a homer. Aurora wish the power would improve, but he's had 6 SB in this stretch and has 13 on the year...
- We hesitate to discuss Rob Imhoff, but he did have two starts for the week - and won them both with a decent outing v Reno and an excellent outing v. Yuma (8 IP, 2 H, 5 K and a walk, and a solo homer)... Aurora is trying to be patient - there's always the Mike Provost story whispering in the inner ear...
Down on the Farm
They all suck... OK, not all of them... Very quietly, Pedro Morales is looking like Aurora's MPoY. After a 6-1, and 1.60 year at Mokule'ia last season, Pedro is 10-4 with a 2.33 at SLRC... Henry Cluett, who has struggled a bit of late (10 ER over his last 23 IP), he still has won 10 games and has a 2.71 ERA at Gatineau... Takeuchi Kozawa, the 8th round pick in this years draft, who already has a no-hitter to his pro resume, is 4-1 with a 1.66 ERA, with a 0.62 WHIP...
What's on Tap
A road trip to Japan to begin a pair of home-and-home series with Okinawa and Neo-Tokyo to bookend the Trade Deadline. Turner, Esquivel and Nieves will lead Aurora against the Shisa, with Imhoff, 'Tugboat' and Turner facing the tough Akira... Despite the first place standing, Aurora is still not 100% sold on the year, and still may be a seller before it's all said and done...

Well, it so happens that Mr. Ed Emery is not very happy playing for the Zephyrs and is demanding a trade. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is when a free agent signing pulls this stuff. Mr. Emery cannot be traded because nobody wants him. I screwed up in thinking he was still a good pitcher. I would also like to remind him that his last year is a player option. I would like to see him put his money where his mouth is and decline the option. But, we all know he wont do that. Just for fun, I have waived Mr. Emery. He is now free for the taking. I hope he gets the message.

Gratz to Raines for the 3000 hits. I hope other players don't have to play till they are 43 to get to that milestone.
As for Hartford, this sim is possibly my happiest sim as it's rare to have my team winning more than .500 in a week.

Re: Neat Stuff, Post-Sim Thread: 2029, Season 23
Good sim for Duluth, at the end of the fun half of our summer schedule--August looms tall and menacing.
Rookie Sean Kirkland is .305/.343/.505 over 178 PAs. He led AAA in home runs until his callup and has been a success this year. Jim "Bizzare" Klein, morale sorceror, is on a July hot streak of .360/.402/.653 across the month, 117 OPS+ for the year. He dongered twice against Yuma on July 28th--and recently signed a 1-year extension for about 400K less than his 2029 salary. We're happy to have him--This sim marks the first time the Warriors have had a Team Chemistry status of "Ecstatic" Since I became GM.
RF Dewitt Barry has rebounded nicely since he was "grounded" to AAA following an abysmal Spring performance. He's hit .318/.396/.551 since his return to the Majors--I think he took the lesson to heart!
The Pitching staff has performed acceptably in the month following Carter and Mendoza's departure, all with ERAs south of 3.80. We lack solid offensive production and often blow leads with bad pitching, but overall I think Duluth has carved out a solid 3rd place since in the Division and is set to improve attendance by 22% over 2028, which is a good sign for the financial health of the organization.

In looking at no-hitters, I thought I'd also look at some other notable accomplishments.
All at the PEBA level:
All at the PEBA level:
- There hasn't been a 15 K game since 2025
- We've had a lot of 3 HR games, but never a 4 HR game
- The three longest hitting streaks in PEBA history all occurred in 2021 (and 2019, when the shortest of those 3 was first set).

Everyone in Yuma--well, almost everyone--was delighted to watch Vinnie de Brouwer lose his 17th straight start this season. He's on course to finish with 20 losses and 0 wins, which will set a new Yuma and PEBA record.
NOTE: Vinnie lost #17 on August 17. That's kismet!
Go Vinnie!
Sadly, a few recalcitrant souls were upset by Vinnie's 3 2/3 inning performance on the 17th of August, allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs. There's no accounting for some people's attitudes. One of the naysayers stood in the middle of Main Street yelling obscene insults about Vinnie de Brauwer, although Vinnie was resting quietly in the Dozer locker room by then. The angry individual--whose name is being withheld out of consideration for his family--was escorted gently from the street by the Yuma police and delivered to the Crisis Prevention Center for a "conversation" with one of the crisis counselors. Rumor has it that the individual may be a relative of Vinnie's, though their relationship has not been confirmed at this time.

You'll need to bribe the manager for that to happen. I don't set lineups and choose the rotation, he does. But I hear he has a weakness for those Ethel M dark chocolates.Akira wrote:Please start Vinnie next week 8/21-23. All 3 games.

Congrats to Clarence Carpenter (CL) who has broken the season record of steals at 91 surpassing Naoaki Kichida (FL) who had 89 steals in 2010. Tom Patton (OKA) is right on Carpenter's heels with 88 steals so far this season.
