PEBA-Cast Episode 8 - 2028 Playoffs and Predictions!
Hey guys! RJ and I have talked again with a microphone in the room. This episode, we talk all about the amazing run up to the playoffs, RJ's experience in the 2028 post season and the matchups we're most excited to see.

I gave you guys a plug on the Bears blog even though you spent half of the 'cast hating on my man, Neil Maes. He might be all smoke and mirrors but both seem to impede opposing hitters

I've long respected Maes for his amazing ability to get hitters out - if he'd throw balls instead of smoke and mirrors, we might stand a chance...

Loved it!!! Listened to it on my lunch break at work today.
It really is incredible how Neil Maes gets things done, despite the puzzling stats! Mind you, he seems to have a really good sinker, which I think would explain the endless ground balls.
Perhaps it's like Orel Hershiser's sinker of the ol' MLB, but just not quite as sharp to get actual strikeouts, but just enough to get boat loads of ground balls?

Loved Ken's reaction to the wild card being best of 5.
Neil Maes: .243 BABIP
Fred Womack: .222 BABIP
Maes has a career 0.41 HR/9IP. That's second among all starters with 1900 career IP.
Pitcher WAR is based on the same types of things that FIP is. That's why it does some really weird things in terms of actual values compared to what you'd expect looking at traditional statistics.
