The new official blog of the Toyama Wind Dancers
Changing of the Guard5/26/2025
New GM Kyle Miller finally arrived in Toyama early this morning to begin his duties as team gm. Upon first examination, Kyle noticed the completely unmanaged team DL, with many players sitting on the DL long past their injury, unable to help the team as they begin the year with a subpar record.
Kyle's first actions were to return 4 players back from the dl.
RF - Iván Rosa: Ivan Rosa is one of our great young stars, who slashed .337/.380/553 last year in 105 games. While he has been quite good over his first three seasons, he has also suffered many injuries, playing over 120 games only his first seasons with 146 games played. But hopefully, Rosa will remain healthy for the rest of the year.
2B - José Escobido: Jose Escobido has provided veteran leadership for the team over the last three years, and his return will be greatly appreciated, especially with the gradual decline of team leader Shiro Adachi.
CF - Donald Allen: Donald Allen was a quality player in his rookie year slashing .335/.378/.427 with 4 Hrs. He is a quality leadoff hitter and a great fielder, and his return will greatly help the team.
SP - Akira Watanabe, The return of Akira provides a solid 5th starter to help bolster one of the top rotations in the league, pushing Gosselin back into the Setup role for the team.
The addition of these 4 players will definitely help the team which has been off to a relatively slow start going 20-23 after 2 years straight going 98-64.
When asked about the team's current state Miller responded "I am positive the Wind Dancers will be able to return to a winning record with the return of these many players. The Return of Rosa and Allen will greatly help a previously incredibly weak outfield, and Watanabe and Escobido will hopefully provide a great replacement, and as long as the team remains relatively healthy they should be able to begin competing for the remainder of the season."
