Fargo Dinosaurs News and Notes August 11th, 2025

#1 Post by Dinosaurs »

Despite being in last place in the Great Lakes division, the Fargo Dinosaurs are now exactly .500 on the year at 52-52 record. Which is to say that perhaps the Great Lakes Division may be the toughest division around (or at least in the running with Seaboard Division in the Imperial League). It has been a welcome turn around this season for the Dinosaurs as they were one of the worst teams in baseball last year. This despite losing the team's ace starter for the year Ernesto Molina. Molina though has had a stand-in for "ace" since he went down and as you'll see below this person has done well in filling Molina's shoes.
  • Manuel Hernández now in his third season with Fargo and PEBA overall has had a break out year at age 25. Last season he had hinted that he may be ready for this type of step forward when he pitched to a 3.18 ERA in a injury shortened season (13 starts), but this season the starting pitcher has jumped out even further, now sporting a 2.44 ERA (157 ERA+) and 1.19 WHIP in 21 games started for the Dinosaurs. The 2.44 ERA is second in the Sovereign League behind Randy "Tugboat" Smith of Aurora who has a 1.96 ERA.
  • A recent injury to starting catcher Carlos Galván (fractured tibia out 6 weeks) has opened the door for catching prospect Dan Collins the 9th overall pick in the 2020 draft for the Dinosaurs. Collins wasn't exactly busting the door down, but with a 99 wRC+ at AAA he'll be given a chance to show what he can do until Galvan returns.
