"We're right there. We were in it in Game 6. We had Game 1 and Game 2 won, we just let those games slip. We know what it takes to win. We just gotta get over that hump like we did last season and not take anything for granted." stated team Captain Jim Klein in the post game 7 press conference. "Our offense just ran out of gas there at the end. I'm proud of our young guys and the experience they will take with them."

Despite a strong Game 6 performance by Miguel Cantú the Crystal Lake offense could only muster 5 hits. Florida would produce the only run it needed by Jack Hudson in the bottom of the second. Batting against Crystal Lake pitcher Dean McNeil, Hudson gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

In Game 7, Crystal Lake's offense would then be shutdown by former Sandgnat and future Hall of Fame pitcher Francisco 'Yogi' Robles who over 7 innings (on 3 days rest) held the Sandgnats to 2 hits - the only 2 hits of the game for the Sandgnats. Danny 'Hitman' Burton gets credit for scoring the winning run in the 4th inning to cap off an MVP Performance of a .444 average and 4 Home Run for the series.

Mr. Sydney C. Dole, the Sandgnats owner made a rare appearance at the game 7 press conference to discuss his thoughts on the season. "We remain committed to our plan to build a championship team, and we are confident in the direction we are moving as an organization," said Mr. Dole. "We are invested in the development of our players at all levels, both as athletes and as people. Our Manager [Joe Matterson] is characterized by intelligence, preparation and integrity, and he has continually proven himself to be the right person to lead this team. We look forward to him managing, motivating and teaching the future talent that we know are on their way to Crystal Lake."

When asked on his plans for the off-season, he stated, "We had a handsome profit with this playoff money. I'm thinking of adding a wing to Dole Mansion. For research..."
