KyT - Fla deal

#1 Post by Duane »

Florida receives

CF Miguel Yánez

Kentucky receives
Florida's 1st round pick
RF Pablo Rodríguez
2B Stewart Abbott (AA)

Very difficult moving Ping, let alone moving him to Ky's arch rival.

That'll be a short time frame for Florida to get 'Ping' signed - good luck...

Ken, thanks for being flexible ... I do like trading but a "Trader Matt" I will never be

I believe this is only the 2nd deal between Fla and Ky since the start of league (I came on mid-way in 1st season)

That is a king's ransom for, unless I am missing something, just the chance to sign Ping before everyone else. I am a big fan of Ping, but FL had better get a deal done for the price they paid.

Either way, I think KY did a great job of guaranteeing a significant return on a guy who was out the door anyway.

nah, if we didn't move him we were going to sign him - he would not have hit FA this yr .... moving him allows us to negotiate with Gallagher and set up a long term for Sanchez

Florida can make that deal because Florida can give Ping whatever he wants. As Duane said, he would have kept him around except to do that he would have hamstrung himself with other players. So he really _had_ to make the deal because he has fewer base resources. And, yes, he made a good return. Florida probably over-paid a bit, which SHOULD HAPPEN EVERY TIME A SMALL REV TEAM TRADES WITH A BIG REV TEAM. :)

Of course, big revenue teams have this issue on occasion. Everyone runs into spending caps and owner budgets on occasion. But it's the difference between getting the flu and having cystic fibrosis.

Of course, the change in sim schedule and the lack of inclusion of the trades in the file make Florida's life harder. That's actually an artificially induced problem for them now.

I suggest that to help this situation, a new file be uploaded now with the trade included, but the date not progressed. This would give Florida the cycle to work with that they had planned.

Not a bad idea, but upload all current exports first, to cover teams who may have already made moves....

We are trying to talk with Dan now about it. More concerned about the revenue deal than KT/FL but that'll be a byproduct of sorting the finances
