Trade between Aurora and Amsterdam

#1 Post by Borealis »

The following trade has been completed:

Amsterdam receives:
SP Arturo 'Massacre' Jimenez
RP Manuel Galloca
Aurora's 4th Round pick in the 2025 draft

Aurora receives:
SP Carlos Rivera

A difficult deal to make, giving up 'Massacre', that's for sure... More commentary to come as well as instructions.

Thanks Bob for some pretty speedy negotiations!

Reg/Dan-

Please place Rivera in the #3 starters slot on the pitching page and as the starting pitcher on 4/19 v. Fargo (4/14 should read S. Gordon). Thanks in advance. If this can't be done, please give me advance notice so I can adjust my pitching appropriately...

Oh, 'Massacre'... The 'Tugboat' deal almost never happened (and maybe an Aurora title or two?) because of my stubborn desire to keep him. But now, as he finally seems to have found it on all levels (read: found a good semblance of control), he needs to go. He's refused to discuss a contract extension (which no doubt would have been hefty - greedy bastard) for more than a season now and thus it's time to get something. As Francis Ferry will point out in her piece for The Northern Lights News, Rivera gives Aurora a peek of what the rotation will be like in the near future - as opposed to a question mark going into the offseason - and at a likely cheaper cost than Jimenez or another FA starter would be. We are no worse, or arguably better, pitching-wise with the deal - despite the age difference. This was one of the very few trades that the RL Will Topham gave his 2¢ on - as he shakes his head and says, 'oh, Dad...'...

Sad to see Rivera go, but hopefully this will net him a few more wins over the remainder of his fine career.
