The Leones franchise looks to be turning the club’s fortunes around. After a promising 2023 season that saw the club’s first ever PEBA playoff appearance, and first club playoff appearance since 2016 when they were the LRS’ Edo Battousai franchise, the club took the unusual move of dropping ticket prices by 2.5%

Early in the season, critics were doubtful of the wisdom of the move as attendance hovered around the 40,000 mark. With the latest financial reports the club has found universal appraise.
Season ticket sales; up 55%
Attendance per game: up 41.5%
Revenue per game: up 38%

The club also reports increases in market size, fan loyalty and fan interest. The Leones have Havana radio buzzing.

These result combined with the influx from PEBA’s new media contract have the club posting a record revenue. And it’s only mid August!

To celebrate, the club has announced it will be offering free cigars to every fan attending a Leones home game for the rest of the season.

That is an impressive turn around!

What did you do to make that happen?

I'm sure there is a lot other GM's could learn from your example.

The single biggest factor seems to have been being in a close division race with those pesky Coqui. When the division race tightens we see attendance go up. It'll be interesting to see if that continues if we lose the division lead.

The ticket price drop didn't do much initially with the season tix but there was an uptick in attendance right away. The goal here was simply to maximize the stadium and fill it even if it meant losing some potential money when we sold out. The hope was that we could make it up in merchandising though how that works exactly is not clear.

I also made an effort to sign a number of guys who were very popular with the fans. That seems to have helped as well.

All of those moves are right on the money. You're killing it this year.

Job #1 is to fill the place up. Give the fans something they want to see.

You can work on maximizing revenue to continue to fuel additions to your roster after that.
