A leg up for Havana's rotation

In the ‘division nobody wants to win’ the Leones have found themselves unable to extend the 2 game lead dividing them from the rest of the division.

They are the only division leader with a negative run differential, having posted a -32 RDiff thus far. They are 3rd in batting avg and runs scored and 2nd in home runs amongst IL clubs. The bats are solid. Unfortunately those same bats are paired with some miserable leather. The club is 13th in defensive efficiency in the IL. It’s basically a wash. There’s not much help in the farm system at this time to address these issues.

Pitching is the other area where the club lags with a 12th position rank in starters’ ERA. Here’s where the club does have some option down on the farm and they’ve chosen to take action.

SP Glenn “Legs” Thomas has been called up and will take over the 5th starter spot immediately.

Only two years ago the 23 year old was pitching college ball. Since being drafted #1 in the 2022 draft his rise has been mercurial. He’s posted a 5-5 record for Camaguey with a 2.91 ERA over 105.1 IP. In that period he put up 121K while surrendering 42 BB and 91 HA. He’s still a bit green and the club would much rather have seen him grow some more at the AAA level but they feel he has the ability to make the adjustments needed to succeed at the top tier in PEBA. They’re betting on it!
