PEBA Podcast

#1 Post by KenH »

Hey guys, I've been trying to work through what a podcast would look like for PEBA. I think it would be a really interesting way to not only keep up on the league in a different way, but also to differentiate ourselves from other leagues in the constant pursuit of more owners. I did a podcast for about a year and a half for a MMO called WildStar called Nexus Weekly as a co-host. I'd love to put something together for PEBA.

I'm bringing this up to see what other people thought about the idea and what they like/don't like about it. Also trying to gauge interest in other hosts or any other service you could provide.

PEBA Podcast
1. Whats going on around the league?
a. hot teams
b. cold teams
c. penant and wild card races
d. All-Star and awards talk
2. Player Spotlight
a. Hot player of the weeks simmed.
a. A look at a new player added to a trading block (maybe?)
3. Get to know a manager
a. Interview with a GM, why PEBA?
b Real life team
c. whatever else

Other ideas:
PEBA History Lessons
General OOTP tips and tricks
Real Life baseball talk
What is _____? A breakdown of what all the various stats OOTP tracks.

Running time: 30-45 minutes, 1-4 x month

Thanks for reading... please let me know what you think. I'd love to get something really entertaining for not only us but also observers from the outside that are maybe looking for a league or just enjoy the spectacle of a bunch of adults talking about fake baseball.

I like it, but my only recommendation would be to keep it PEBA. So keep the real world sports teams chat off I guess? But to keep it to our fantasy world I think would be awesome.

I know Jason tried to do one or two back in the day but was so busy with his basketball league that it didn't get further than I think an episode or two. Would be nice to have something to listen to. I always dream about nerding out and chatting about the league with others.

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking just setting up a RSS feed and getting it on iTunes that way you can listen to it whenever.

I think that makes sense keeping it in the PEBA-verse but I don't necessarily want to get too caught up in the sort of RP that some of our awesome articles take on. I don't think I can do that, honestly.

Great idea. You inspired me to finally upload a fight song I made for the old LRS Edo Battrousai club. Perhaps it might make a good intro song for the podcast. You can hear it here:

Yes a great idea, I've often thought of doing a podcast but have no mic and I don't think I could justify shelling out about £50 for a decent quality mic.

Quality tune Patrick but I sat there waiting for the "You're going to get your f***ing head kicked in" and come and have a go if you're hard enough" to burst out. All good fight songs have them in lol

And I love Reg's title !

I think this can work really well, but that it needs to be relatively consistent. Frequency is more important than length.

Five-ten minutes every week? (longer is fine, but, again frequency and entertainment over feeling like we need deep-dives every episode).

Overviews of divisions, hot players, any deals that go down...prospects coming up, teams to look forward to. Commentary on fictional twists. The opportunities are endless. If this gets serious, I'm willing to help out in various ways.

Thanks for the interest guys! Definitely looks like this could be something that works really well. I may do some test runs and put them up here to see what people think and kind of go from there.

The first episode of PEBA-Cast has arrived just in time for the 2023 playoffs! Please give a listen and let me know what you think. I'm not happy with my audio quality in this episode but I will have it fixed by the next time we record (which should be after playoffs are over... maybe one primer for the championship? We'll see).

Also, big THANK YOU to Reg! He made the intro and was a trooper while I worked out some finnicky software stuff. I'm really excited to have you on board! Hopefully this is just the start for this thing.

Give it a listen HERE!

(Sorry about the crappy hosting page -- I'll get something legit at some point but I wanted to get this up).
