PEBA-Cast Episode 10 - Winter Meetings Bring Spring Trades

Episode 10 - Winter Meetings bring Spring Trades

LISTEN HERE!

In this episode of PEBAcast, Ken Reg and RJ talk about the 2029 preseason free agency period, the winter meeting drama surrounding the blockbuster trade of Steve Hott, and some of the many other trades that stood out to us.

This one ended up being a little longer than some of our other episodes which may be partly due to us not having done one of these in a while -- we had a lot to say!

I'm also going to try and list the segments so you guys can flip around to listen to the things that matter to you the most. We'd love for you to listen to all of it, but its like an hour twenty, and you (ostensibly) have a life outside of PEBA. Let me know if these are things y'all like it or find use out of it and I'll continue to do it.

The segments listed below are kind of mixed up. We talk about trades and free agent signings between everything else and I think that's partly due to the fact that there's just SO. MUCH. GOING. ON.

We really hope you enjoy this episode! We had a blast recording it for you guys.

Stick around until the end (around the 1 hour, 2 minute mark) for a BRAND NEW SEGMENT heretofore NEVER SEEN in PEBAcast history!

Loved it! Glad you mentioned that Andy Sharp sweetener in the Hott trade, I'd forgotten all about him...

Thanks as always for putting this together. These are great for me getting through paperwork at the desk!

Official request to mandate that anytime Steve Hott is mentioned he has to be hyperlinked so that everyone can take the time to remind themselves of the GLORY of Hott.

Thank you all for the great feedback! I have some more stuff planned for future episodes. I am also in the process of getting an honest-to-goodness podcast feed set up soon through libsyn, so you'll be able to listen to it like a regular podcast instead of some weird Google drive file! Woohoo!

Sweet. I can't access online shared filesystems like Google Drive at work and my phone doesn't seem happy about playing from there either.

Excellent Job! Great stuff there, and Szczester Godzinski approves as well...

For the record, the 2022 Winter Meetings (January 2016) had 20 trades! but they were out done by the 2019 Winter Meetings (April 2014), which had 21 trades - though that one get's an asterisk, as that was the first year we allowed trading between the PEBA and the LRS - and there were 5 such deals.

I do not have record of LRS Winter Meeting deals that may have pushed totals trades for any one meeting to beyond 21.
