#1 Post by Borealis »

The following trade has been struck between the Scottish Claymores and the Aurora Borealis:

Scottish receive:
1B Jimmy 'Dr. Evil' Peterson (A)

Aurora receives:
Scottish 13th round 2028 Draft pick

Thanks Vic for the speedy negotiations - may the future bring an All-Evil infield!!

Trade confirmed.

Now, you’re going to look at Peterson and say, ‘But he’s a terrible prospect. He’ll never make the majors.”

And you’re right. Oh sure, he’s got good fielding skills. But those are a dime a dozen. Still, he’s likely no worse than whatever prospect a 13th round draft choice would bring in.

The main thing is that this trade has a few unique things going for it:

1. As Mike points out, there are now two players nicknamed Dr. Evil in the Claymores system. If nothing else, this will provide story lines to the Edinburgh press for months.

2. When some rookie GM asks you years from now, ‘Is it true that some guy once traded a draft pick for a terrible player just because his nickname was Dr. Evil?, you’ll be able to gaze off into the middle distance, nod sadly, and say, ‘yes, yes it’s true.’

3. You’re welcome.

That's a risk of a deal. I'd anticipate some legendary diabolical fights in the locker room.
