PEBA Pioneers

#1 Post by Nigel »

First of a number of polls testing opinions about the HOF setup.

Should the players that played in the early years of the PEBA / LRS be honored in their own section ? It is proposed that players who played in 2007 but perhaps didn't have a full career due to the age they were when they came into the PEBA / LRS be inducted as Pioneers of their league

I voted yes, but I don't know if we need a special section. We could simply denote in the Hall notes that they were a pioneer. It will be understood that their stats will vary from the expected norm...

I'm open to either, what do others think? Special section or just an asterix?

I think - provided someone has the time to devote to it - a PEBA Pioneers link off our website would be a cool addition. I'm certain we'll have a solid number of inductees so having a place to house them just seems right.

I second that. No need to give these players a special section, but worth noting their status.

A pioneer is going to get extra scrutiny from me on my ballot anyway. They better have been elite.

I'm in agreement with this view myself. This will have a role in setting the tone of who gets in and who doesn't.

x2.

Although part of the reason why I want them in the real HoF's annex/anteroom/basement is so that they won't necessarily serve as a precedent for the real HoF.

I kind of like the idea of the pioneers being in a separate part of the HoF.

I like the concept of it being sort of the entrance way that you would have to go through to reach the rest of the HoF.

Perhaps the story could be the unveiling of the Pioneer area first, with an unveiling of plans for the larger expanded future HoF.

Just noticing this forum now (haven't been looking on the forums too much), but I agree with the Pioneers portion, sounds like a good idea, but with tight criteria based on them being elite during their career, not just very good and presuming what they would have done in a full career.
