Fans are packed into the "Fishbowl" - Dockside Colosseum in Gloucester, Mass - to cheer on the Imperial and Sovereign League All-Stars in the 2016 PEBA All-Star Game! It's a mite nippy on this mid-July evening: 68° with a stiff breeze blowing to right. Alfredo Velázquez is on the mound, getting ready to throw the first pitch to SL shortstop Raúl García. Here we go!

A quick 1-2-3 inning for Velázquez. Now it's Fred Benjamin's turn to toe the rubber as the IL All-Stars come up for their first at bats. Benjamin will face León Valentín to start things off.

Welcome to the Fishbowl, colleagues! Hope the wind off the ocean isn't too damp. And by all means, try the lobster roll and fried clam wrap. The Sam Adams ain't bad, either.

Don't mind if I do. That sounds fantastic.

I'm going to go get a Sam Adams out of the fridge now...

Benjamin gets out of the first issuing just a walk to Ieyoshi Ishikawa. Bob Keller opens the second with a single off Velázquez but is promptly erased on a 6-4-3 double play off the bat of Mike Arnopp. We're moving to the bottom of the 2nd.

Nice scoop by Raúl García off a ground ball by Luis Torres. García steps on second to erase Newton Wilcox, who reached on a single, this fires to first to complete the double play. Florida's Chris York is coming in to pitch the 3rd inning for the Imperial League.

John Knight's speed can really be a game-changer. Most guys wouldn't beat out that infield worm-burner, but Knight made it and then stole second off York. García can't drive him home, though. Now it's time for "Fireworks" as the legendary Markus Hancock takes the hill for the Sovereign League.

Three straight one-out hits by Berry, Valentín, and Ishikawa have loaded the bases for dangerous #3 hitter Ronald Harmon. Hancock is bringing gas tonight; he's been clocked at 99 MPH twice and hit 101 MPH on the base hit by Valentín. Let's see if he tries to blow away Harmon with gas.

Fireworks indeed brings the gas to bear again Harmon - 100 MPH! - but Harmon isn't phased. He lines a single to center. Two runs score on the play. Ishikawa stops at 2nd. SL 0 - IL 2

Fireworks strikes out Javier Soto, but a walk to Ronald Lowry reloads the bases. Looks like Don James is going to stick with Hancock to face Newton Wilcox.
