Coming in for the IL in the 2nd is 'Cactus' Kang of New Orleans to face the bottom portion of the SL line-up...

Bears catcher Steve McDonald comes up to start the first and he draws a walk from 'Cactus' to start things off...

Errol Landry, the shortstop for Shin Seiki comes up next, and he grounds one to short... Homna to second... Cuevas to first... NO - Landry beats it out...

That brings up one of the hotter hitters at this moment, Aurora shortstop Teddy Loetzsch, who turns on a Kang heater, but 'Hitman' Burton chases it down in the gap for the second out...

Jerry Rutledge, the 9-hitter comes to the plate and after a pair of balls... Foul... Foul... Foul... Foul... Foul... and a swing and a miss... to end the inning...

After 2, it's 2-2...

There once was a runner on third
Who suddenly a crack of the bat heard
The ball soared away
But our runner remained
So startled that he dropped a fresh turd!

There’s cosmic alignment there, given that your base runner on third just went #2 ...

Striding to the mound - throwing a bottle of water aside before he crosses the foul line, is Yuma starter Jose Campos, to face the 2-3-4 hitters in the IL line-up...

Tony Cuevas works a full count, but swings and misses for strike 3...

Campos stares in at 'Hitman'... the 2-2 pitch... Swings and misses, but it gets by McDonald... Burton hustles to first... the throw - OUT! McDonald nips Burton at first, thanks to a nifty stretch by Lopez...

That brings to the plate Vincent Powell, who grounds his second pitch back to Campos for the easy play at first...

After two-and-a-half, it's still 2-2... What a great job by the Yuma pitcher!

You know what they'll be doing back in Yuma, don't you? Winning--actually, success of any kind--is anathema to that town. The bars will be filled with folks seeking solace, hopes will rise to be dashed again, and the suicide rate will undoubtedly take a quick hike up later this evening. Winning is bad for their health.

Maybe we can save the citizens of Yuma much grief by trading Campos post haste. Anyone interested in an all-star pitcher?

Dave Hurley comes in as the first sub of the game, replacing Cuevas, with Homna moving to short....

Carpenter to face Kang to start the bottom of the third, and the Trendsetter starter blows the ball past Clarence, who swings and misses at three pitches for a strikeout...

Castanieda takes a ball and a strike, but is way ahead of an 86 mph change, and hits a soft liner right at Lima for out #2...

Justavo wastes no time trying to get the SL the lead, but only lofts a short flyable to right, with Powell making the play... Inning over... 3-up, 3-down...

After 3, 2-2...

I think the damage might already be done, Bob. You’re going to need an extra shift on that suicide hotline.
