Florida 3B Andy Sharp leads it off for the IL against Bakersfield's Top Gun Neil Maes... Sharp squibs a 2-2 pitch down the third base line, Maes picks it up, throws to first - SAFE - Sharp beats it out...

Carlos Garza to the plate now... Sharp takes off for second on a 1-1 pitch, Parker's throw to 2B - Bounces past Schneider into center, Sharp picks himself up and races to third...

The Alleghanie 2B bounces the ball to Bothwell at first, who flips the ball to Maes, Sharp comes in to score, 1-0 IL... Bringing 'Matchbox' to the plate...

Hernandez bounces a chopper to third, but the in-between bounce eats Britt alive for the Sovereign Leagues second error of the inning...

Kentucky's Bartolo Mora drives a 1-2 pitch into right field for a single and Hernandez races all the way to third, beating Carlisle's throw...

To another huge ovation, New Orlean's Felix Zavala steps in and laces an opposite field double, down the line, Hernandez scores, Mora pulls into 3rd - 2-0 IL...

Arlington's big catcher Marvin Hansen grounds a 1-strike pitch to second, for the 2nd out, Mora scoring form third - 3-0...

Kentucky's Pedro Rodriguez, drops one down the right field line, Zavala scores, Carlisle boots it and Rodriguez scores - 3 SL errors and 4 IL runs - and Maes appears not to have it tonight...

New Orlean's home town favorite, Roberto Garcia strikes out swinging to end the inning - and what an inning it was for the Imperial League!

Coming on to pitch for the IL is hometown hero, 'Cactus' Gang, to face Britt, Schneider and Raines...

BOOM! Mike Britt helps make up for his error by smashing an opposite field homer, high up the bleachers in right-center field, a 382' shot... cutting the lead to 4-1...

'Cactus' rebounds, taking down Schneider swinging on three pitches...

To the plate strides the player many consider the GOAT, Fargo DH Rob Raines... but he heads back to the dugout, swinging at strike three... with Crystal Lake catcher Tony Parker walking to the plate...

Parker dumps a ball just over second base, and the catcher, eager to make up for his earlier error, steams around first, and heads into second - a bad decision, as Garcia has him out at second by a country mile...

Former-Trendsetter, and now Aurora Ace, John Turner takes over for Maes in the second, facing Honma and then the top of the order... and on a 2-0 pitch, the Scottish shortstop lines one into left-center for a clean single and the IL are at it again...

Florida's Andy Sharp hits a slow roller to third - Britt to second for the force as the ball was too slow to get the fleet-footed Sharp... Carlos Garza coming up...

On a 1-2 pitch to Garza, the SL pitches out - and guesses right as this time Parker's throw is in time and Sharp is tagged out for the second out... Then Garza hits a lazy flyable to CF, Long gathers it in, and the inning is over...

After 2:

Neo-Tokyo SS Brian Coleman digs in to face the third IL pitcher, West Virginia Alleghany 'Nails' Yokoyama... Yokoyama looks a little miffed at himself - or the ump, after walking the lead-off hitter on 4 pitches... That brings us back to the top of the order...

'Nails' continues to look a tad wild as he throws a 1-0 pitch past Jerry Long, with Coleman moving to second... and then Yokoyama walks Long, which brings up 'Jasper'...

Mercer shows little patience as he bounces a 1-0 pitch to the first basemen Zavala, who gets the force at second... 1st & 3rd, 1-out...

West Virginia's pitcher continues to get the ball up and out of the zone as Aurora's Carlisle takes a 1-0 pitch back up the middle for a single, scoring Coleman, with Mercer stopping at second. It's not 4-2 and the big bats coming up...

Bothwell works the count full, as he can't tell where the ball is going from the wild 'Nails', then he swings and misses at what may have been ball four... two down and it's up to 'Big Whiskey' if the SL is going to score again...

And on a 2-2 pitch, Britt comes through - lining a single up the middle, but maybe he hits it too hard, as Mercer rounds third and heads to home - a bang-bang throw from Garcia - OUT!!! at the plate...

Shin Seiki's Ace, 'Zoom Zoom' Suitani, strolls to the mound - one of the toughest and most confident pitchers in the Sovereign League, and he'll face off with Havana's leading Wunderkind candidate, Claudio Hernandez... and 'Matchbox' walks on a 3-2 pitch down in the dirt... Bringing up Mora...

Bartolo Mora jumps on the first pitch and hits it high... and deep... right center field... near the fence... and caught by Carlisle... Hernandez heads back to first after stopping at second, thinking the ball was going to hit off the wall...

With one down, New Orlean's Felix Zavala is at the plate and Suitani bounces a ball in the dirt, past Parker, with Hernandez taking second... and with that, Suitani throws one wide and walks the Trendsetter 1B...

Bureaucrat catcher Marvin Hansen takes a defensive stance, but Suitani's 0-2 pitch gets to much of the inside of the plate and Hansen turns and lines it down the line - and it curls past the pole for a 3-run HOMER!!! And the IL have now broken the game wide open!! It's 7-2...

Pedro Rodriguez loops a 0-2 pitch down the left field line, but 'Jasper' races... dives... and makes the catch...

Roberto Garcia follow's up his strong throw last inning with a line single up the middle on the first pitch... The IL isn't done yet...

Honma lines one past Bothwell, who looked to have lost the ball in Garcia - who stops at second....

Lead-off hitter Andy Sharp pops Suitani's 2-0 offering up to short, Coleman grabs it and the inning is over...

After three... things look dire for the SL:

I’m imaging Honma’s contract demands escalating with each half-inning. First, he makes the all-star team, now he has two hits. Good lord ...

As we move to the top of the 4th, our first positional substitution of the night has happened as Alejandro Lujan takes Sharp's place at third and Havana's Kenny Ashley comes in to pitch, facing Schneider, Raines and Parker...

Harley bounces one to Garza in the hole, who scoops it up and gets Schneider by plenty...

The massive Raines stands in and looks a an 0-2 pitch for strike three...

And after looking like Markus Hancock against Raines, Ashley walks 'Gnat Tony Parker on four pitches...

Brian Coleman lines a single in the hole at short, with Parker taking no chances this time, stopping at second...

Lead-off hitter Jerry Long pops one up to right, Claudio Hernandez handles it with little trouble for the third out...

Clarence Carpenter, of Okinawa, runs out to CF while Crystal Lake's young arm, 'Nitro' MacCowan takes the mound... to face Carlos Garza...

'Nitro' gets Garza on three pitches...

'Matchbox' works the count full, before hitting one to the warning track that Carpenter hauls in...

Bartolo Mora hits a high fly ball, right to Carlisle as he stands in his tracks - and for the first time this game, the IL fails to get a runner on base...

Arlington's Motoyuki Hatsutori comes to the mound in the 5th, and with him Amsterdam's Bill Jones takes over at second, Arlington's Rob Davidson in RF, and Florida's 'Hitman' Burton takes over in left... Don Mercer heads to the plate...

'Jasper' greets the Bureaucrats pitcher by bouncing one up the middle past the diving Honma...

Paul Carlisle rolls a 1-2 pitch slowly to second, his former-teammate, Bill Jones has only one play - and gets Carlisle by a couple of steps... Mercer stops at second...

'Red Hook' battles Hatsutori to a full count, before finally taking ball four...

On an 0-2 pitch, Mike Britt tries to pull a pitch low and away, but only manages to bounce it to the left of the mound - Hatsutori pounces, and hurries a throw to second, but it bounces high an doff Jones for an error - and the bases are loaded for the powerful Harley Schneider...

Schneider, like Britt before him, is over anxious and impatient and swings at an 0-2 pitch, down and in, for strike three... two down...

Arlington's Hatsutori nitpicks his way through Rob Raines AB and ends up walking him on a 3-2 pitch, walking in Mercer with the 3rd SL run...

Tony Parker at the plate, trying to cut the lead some more, but he looks at a called strike three on a 2-2 pitch - it was questionable, and despite the exhibition nature of this game, he gives the home plate umpire a piece of his mind...

Palm Spring's Edgardo Guerra takes the mound in the bottom of the 5th for the SL, while a slew of changes take place on defense: Fargo's 'Stocky' Castanieda taks over in LF for Mercer, Neo-Tokyo's Tomas Martinez comes in for Carlisle, Gustavo Lopez of the Dinosaurs takes over for Bothwell, Kalamazoo's Yakamochi Kobayashi replaces Britt at third, Reno's Hai-Liang Choe replaces Harley, Aurora's leading Wunderkind candidate, Jose Torres takes over for Raines at DH and Eva German Hernandez moves in to catch, replacing the still fuming Parker...

Felix Zavala comes to the plate, to another ovation as the fans know it's likely his last at bat... he bounces a 1-1 pitch to Choe at second, easy play and Zavala's day is done, with more applause as he heads to the dugout...

Florida's Jack Hudson comes up to PH for Hansen (and will stay in the game to catch)... Hudson hits Guerra's first offering high to right... Martinez just stands there, turns and watches it sail over his head for a solo HOMER!!! 8-3 IL - that was quite the substitution!

Speaking of subs, Hartford's Luis Cedeno comes to the plate, replacing Pedro Rodriguez at DH... Guerra works the count full before Cedeno bounces one up the middle...

New Orleans Roberto Garcia also receives an ovation for the crowd - Kentucky's manager allowing the hometown players a chance to get that last at bat and recognition... But Garcia rolls one to third, Kobayashi fields... to second for one... on to first - TWO, double play... and the side is retired... But the IL gets an 8th run - and Garcia gets one last ovation...

Florida's Alfredo Hinojosa runs out to center and London's Tony Cuevas takes over at short with San Juan's Hou Hao takes the mound...

Pinch hitting to open the inning, for Brian Coleman, is Palm Springs SS 'Jester' Raines... step-brother of Fargo's DH Rob Raines... on a 3-2 pitch, 'Jester' is caught looking...

Clarence Carpenter swings at a 2-1 pitch and hits a lazy fly to center - and Hinojosa DROPS THE BALL... and the speedy Carpenter races to second... is that the tiny opening the SL needs?

'Stocky' loops a fly to right, where Davidson secures it with two hands...

The Akira's Martinez comes up with two down and slaps the second pitch from Hao up the middle, Carpenter races around third and scores easily with the 4th run for the SL...

Hao nibbles with Fargo's Lopez, finally giving in on a 3-2 pitch, walking 'Bullets' with Martinez taking second...

Hai-Liang Choe swings at a high 1-0 pitch and pops it up to third, Lujan reels it in , and the inning is over...

With Raines staying in the game to play short, Canton's George Lee comes in to pitch the bottom of the 6th against London's Tony Cuevas... and Cuevas bounces one back to Lee, who makes the easy throw to first...

West Virginia's Alejandro Lujan lines one past Lopez at first - on the first pitch, for a single to right...

Bill Jones, Amsterdam's 2B, hits a soft liner just out of Choe's reach for a single, and the IL has runners at 1st & 2nd...

'Hitman' wastes no time, as he rips Lee's second offering past first, Lujan barrel's around third... Martinez' throw home... OUT!!! with Jones staying at second...

Rob Davidson takes a 2-out, 2-2 pitch up the middle, through the shift, Jones scores easily from second and it's now 9-4...

Ira Murdoch (who seemed to get missed upon his entry into the game two innings ago), checks his swing on a 3-1 pitch for ball four... loading the bases for Jack Hudson, who already has homered...

Hudson laces one to right... Burton scores... Davidson scores... and it's now 11-4... and Lee has fooled no one...

In frustration, Lee comes up and in on one to Cedeno, and hits him, loading the bases for HInojosa...

And here comes the Evas manager, and out of the 'pen comes Reno's Hector Rivera...

But this is the IL's night - Rivera's 2-2 pitch is scorched to center, over Carpenter's head, with Hinojosa clearing the bases with a triple - it's 14-4!

Cueva, who began this inning with a bouncer to the pitcher walks on a 3-1 pitch...

Lujan takes an 0-2 pitch back up the middle, Alfredo scores, Cuevas to second... 15-4...

FINALLY... Bill Jones grounds one to third, Kobayashi throws him out, and it's a HUGE inning for the IL - it's 7 runs!!!
