The doctors won't let me travel much, certainly not to New Orleans, but the nurses sometimes smuggle in food. Today I asked for those world famous beignets from the Cafe du Monde. Dined there myself back before the MLB collapsed, PEBA was born, and I was "recommended" to spend a short time "recuperating" here in Camarillo State Hospital.

The only thing I've "recuperated" from is the taste of good food. We never get any. But a sugar-sprinkled bag of them Loozeeyanna beignets ought to turn the trick.

The gates have opened at New Frontier Park, and the fans are racing for those preferred BP locations, in search of a ball, or lining up at the concession stands, buying up those coveted All-Star hats, jersey's and pins!!!

(behind the scenes, it's slow importing all the individuals players - you can't do that in advance...)

Rumor has it the PEBA t-shirts are selling out fast! But why, I can't fathom. They look rather nondescript:

Only two had to be rushed to the hospital with collapsed lungs. A few scratches and bruises, a broken bone or two, and a dozen or so traumatic memories, not bad for an All*Star game!

Digging into the plate to begin this game, CF Jerry Long of Shin Seiki, facing Havana Ace, Enrique Vazquez... Long fouls a couple balls off, but Vazquez gets him swinging...

Next up, Duluth OF Don 'Jasper' Mercer, who lines a 1-2 pitch for double down the line, bringing up Aurora RF Paul Carlisle...

Carlisle bounces a 2-1 pitch to short Honma for the second out... leaving it to Shisa 1B 'Red Hook' Bothwell...

Bothwell takes a ball, but then hits a roller to Garza to end the inning.

After half an inning...
SL - 0
IL - coming up
