Definitely 'Not so neat' was the sim this week, not so much the 2-5 but the manner of the performance. We haven't been helped by injuries but the form of the rotation has been atrocious. Only one of the starting rotation from Opening Day is still in the rotation :,-(

A 3-4 week is not too uncommon for Toyama, but two of those wins coming off of the Evas sure is. Despite our obvious struggles, this season isn't completely void of positives. The team will look very different next season so this year is all about patience and development.

So we're 9-4 over the past two sims, including 4-3 against Fargo and Aurora this week. I wasn't expecting that at all. The offense is coming together a bit... we're just slightly worse than league average there, which isn't all that bad considering where we were. The pitching is still atrocious, although Frederick Cotton had two good games. His personality type is a team leader with low intelligence...

I did actually watch the replays this sim, which was fun when we won and not so fun when we were down by a ton of runs early... but I guess that's baseball.

The hitter that was the most fun to watch this week was Jake Owens, who hit .407 with 2 home runs. He's already half way to last season's total of 12.

A 5-2 week for Aurora is always Neat in it's own right - especially with a 3-1 series win over the Desert Hills leading Bears. Amongst the Neat and Not So Neat...

- Typical Aurora-Bakersfield stuff: 3, 1-run games, including a 2-1 win and a 1-0 loss... the plan that had moved Turner back two days, looked to be effective, as his 8, 3-hit shut out innings with 11 K and 0 BB was about a good as you could ask for. He'll get another extra day in this coming week as minor league help moves down the freeway from Thornton... Help? Carlos Rivera, fresh off the DL, who threw 8 innings and gave up just a run, with a walk and 8 K, left after 3.2 IP in the final start of the week, with a back strain. More on his replacement to come... Paul Carlisle was 6-14 with 2-opposite field homers in Aurora's game 1, 5-4 win, in which Britt and Castro also homered... Castro - who has taken back the catching spot he lost last year, was 5-15... Neat all around!!

- The big surprise of the year thus far has been the efforts of rookie 1B Jose Torres, whose 10-21 week has him hitting .341 for the season - second in the SL behind Carlisle's .346. Torres' 8 HRs, coupled with fellow rookie Ricardo Zamora's 7 HRs have contributed to Aurora's move from the bottom of the SL homer charts to 6th - Aurora's attempts to improve in that category and their faith in these two young sluggers proving (thus far) to have been well placed.

- A tough three games with K-zoo, saw Aurora take 2 of 3, but it was far from easy. Picking up his swing - and hopefully for the remainder of the season, was River Pope. Pope hasn't warmed to the DH spot left open by Pedro Ferringo (who, btw, has also picked it up suddenly, after struggling for Reno, was the weeks PoW), but a 4-11, with a pair of doubles against the Badgers is about the best week of the season for Aurora's 11-year vet, 3-time All-star, and 2-time batting champ... Mike Britt also continues to plod along - as he's want to do, with a pair of homers and 6 RBI v. K-zoo - bringing his totals to 11 HR and 34 RBI - both on pace to be amongst his best seasonal marks...

Down on the Farm
First note centers around Rob Imhoff, Aurora's top pick in the 2026 draft. Scouts say he's ready for The Show... Coaches point to his 4.65 ERA in 31 IP and lack of spring innings (due to injury) as reason to suspect he needs more seasoning - but with Rivera's injury - he'll be out for about 3 weeks, GM and coaches agree that now is as good a time to see what he has. If Imhoff can stay healthy, Aurora is likely to be please with the 23-year old... Recently acquired Henry Cluett nearly had a complete game, 2-hitter - yet took the loss in a 1-0 loss to Nagano. He may be 2-2 since joining the Rapidos Blancos, but his overall 2.06 ERA and 7:1 K:BB ratio is nothing but promising... You probably never get enough shout-out for 10th round-plus draftees, so here's one: CL Kade Hamilton, 273rd overall in the 2026 draft, is 3-0, 14 saves and a 1.46 ERA with 21 K in 24.2 IP...

What's on Tap
The Wind-E's come to The Front Range for their first meeting with the Borealis, then Aurora heads to Michigan for a return engagement with the playing better Badgers... Imhoff will be dropped between the two Aurora aces -'Tugboat' and Turner and face Toyama...

I've waived Ron Copeland, a rule 5 draftee. He should go back to West Virginia but this was the only option that removed him from my team.

A week of two half’s  Went to Arlington and paid them back, in spades, for the last series loss but then came home and didn’t put it out against the Jocks at all. With four replacement pitchers in the rotation I’m afraid this is going to be the new norm.

Well... That was all bad - Losing 2 of 3 to both Toyama and K-zoo pushes Aurora back to 3 GB of Bakersfield - and only 2 games up on Palm Springs... amongst the Very Not So Neat...

- Torres and Zamora crash into the Earth with a combined 4-41...
- John Turner continues his mixed bag of tricks - this week not even finishing 5: 6 H, 5 R, 2 HR...

Those were just the blatantly bad... But there was some Neat...

- Paul Carlisle continues his assault on SL pitching, 9-14, 2 HR, 4 RBI (which ain't bad when your team scores only 14 for the week)... Carlisle's .370 is just 2 points shy of the top mark in the PEBA (behind Zavala at .372) and sitting with the top OBP. With the top SLG in the SL, he also has the SL top OPS and WAR...
- Rob Imhoff, making his major league debut against Toyama, went 7 innings, 5 H, a solo homer being all the runs and 8 K, no walks - promising start, let's see what he has against the team with the second best record in the PEBA - Fargo, as he pitches the opener in what will be 11-games against the Dinos in the next 25 days...

With those 11-games in 25-days stretch of games with Fargo, is it too soon to say do or die?

I'm a bit annoyed that we blew a 9th inning lead to Shin Seiki and then lost it in the 10th. That said, I wouldn't have expected to go 2-2 against them anyway... just frustrating to get close.

Also, we played four games against the best team in the league and failed to score in 28 of our innings. That's only 5 more 0's on the board than West Virginia posted in this game! Can't say I remember if this is the longest PEBA game in history, but the ending was certainly thrilling!

It's difficult to describe the last 3 weeks for the Wind Dancers. After struggling early on as expected by everyone, Toyama was won/tied series against Shin Seiki, Fargo, Aurora, and Crystal Lake over the past 3 sims. The pitching staff has been holding their own while our offense has ramped up. 'Fudd' Martinez has settled in as a key contributor hitting behind another stud in Ramiro Salinas. I can't image our 9 game win streak will last much longer, but it's been very refreshing seeing these young guys make their mark.

Another note, this sim we had a 20 inning marathon with Crystal Lake to start the week. 'Fudd' led the ridiculous stat lines with 4 hits, a triple. and 5 walks (3 intentional).

24-innings?? How can that not be the record!! Nothing like an 0-10 to set your average right!

Yeah... and on cue, back to the DL...

Another sim, another 2 one-run games.

Florida leads the league in one-run games. If you see a F-Head game, there's a >50% chance you're going to see one that goes down to the wire.

We were on a seven-game losing streak and facing the division leaders. After taking the lead in the first West Virginia tied it up in the second, from then on it was another 22 innings before a Cedeno homer finally took the spoils. 14 Hartford players amassed 80 AB's between them and they only recorded 12 hits, Cedeno & Burnett having three each. Normally I suppose three hits would be considered good . . . but when you're 3-10 & 3-9? Oh, and we did draw 13 walks . . . and struckout 17 times

what a way to welcome June !+)

Since Ornelas has been injured, things haven't gone so well in the Bayou...

We are 1-15 since mid-May...
The train has truly left it's tracks so far.

Funny enough, the pitching staff has been reasonable over that time, particularly knuckleballer Angel Ramos, who has put in quasi-complete games all season long. However, the offense has been sputtering.

As we enter June, New Orleans will have to make some lineup and pitching changes to see if the team's progress can be maintained...
After 18 seasons of being turned away at the big dance, the Trendsetters are desperate to put up a playoff fight in 2028.
