#1 Post by Borealis »

The League Championship Series are in full swing - and the Rodriguez Cup is poised upon the horizon, which means it's that time of year again - Awards Season is nearly here!! But you can get a head start with your individual Organization Awards for top Minor League Hitter and Pitcher!! You know the routine... If you want to do a bigger posting in you blogs (or ~gasp~ home page, and add to your CP haul) - knock yourselves out! Just a listing here and a link back to your blog is fine.

Please use the following formatting when you make your announcement. Make sure to list players by their hyperlinked name, current full position (e.g. "SP" rather than just "P", "CF" rather than just "OF") and league level as listed in OOTP:
Proper formatting of awards announcement wrote:

  • Arlington Minor League Pitcher of the Year: SP José Avalos (AAA)

When Jorge Castillo graduated to the Eva rotation after an absolutely blazing start in AAA (9-1, 1.94ERA, 179ERA+ over 13 GS and 88.1 IP), the competition for Minor League Pitcher of the year was thrown wide open. Trujillo made sure that wasn't the case for long. He stepped up and firmly established himself as the top prospect, either pitcher or hitter, in the Shin Seiki organization. Trujillo simply dominated in 2027 as he continued his rise. His hot start (1.69ERA, 215ERA+, 3.3WAR over 11 GS and 79.2 IP) earned him a promotion to AAA. He kept delivering when he got there, dropping a strong stat line (2.71ERA, 128ERA+, 3.6WAR over 18 GS and 116.1 IP). His delivering a total of 6.9 WAR made him the obvious choice for the award. Trujillo now stands on the verge of the Eva's rotation. There is a case to be made for him to start the 2028 season there. But even if he doesn't begin 2028 season there, he seems poised to finish it there. The future looks very bright for the not yet even 23 year old Mr. Trujillo.

The upstart Park had another dynamite season in 2027, this time in AA. Skeptics had dismissed his strong (.303/.337/.911, 160OPS+ 40HR & 5.5WAR) 2026 season as somewhat fluke-y. After all, he was not a highly regarded prospect, having bounced out of three other systems before signing with SS. But even is scouts and skeptics haven't bought in yet (and they haven't), he continued to deliver at the AA level in 2027. His HR production dipped a bit, but his overall performance was even better than 2026 (.310/.383/.953, 175OPS+. 30HR & 5.7WAR). He will start at 3B in AAA in 2028 and have another chance to prove the doubting scouts wrong once again.

Pulled into Short-A back in 2023 at the age of only 17, Pedro Alvarez was given lofty expectations as a newly minted player out of Mexico. After quickly gaining promotion to Single-A Takaoka, Alvarez spent 4 long seasons developing. He struggled to show much improvement on the stat sheet playing in the pitcher-friendly "The Shrine" for the Shiko. But after catching new GM Dylan Krupilis' eye, he was given a shot in AA this past season and man did he deliver. The all-arounder hit .266/.351/.464 in 601 plate appearances additionally providing 22 HRs, 78 RBIs, 15 SBs, and a +6.4 ZR in centerfield. His explosive 2027 earned him 2 Player of the Week, 1 Player of the Month, 1 Divisional Series MVP, as well as an all-star team selection. 'Tiger' look poised for a shot at AAA Yokohama in 2028.

26-year-old Mike Miller has come to terms with the fact that he will likely not make it to the show, but that hasn't stopped him from enjoying his time in Beppu City. After struggling in AAA last season, Miller was brought back down to AA for 2027 where he has had a history of success. 2027 was Miller Time as Mike went 11-3 while finishing with a 1.99 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP. He was lights out all season long ringing up batters with a 9.3 K/9, and a 0.5 HR/9. His efforts this season resulting in an all-star selection as well as being voted the 2027 GNL AA GCAL Outstanding Pitcher of the Year.

2026: LF Ramiro Salinas (AAA)

Toyama Minor League Pitcher of the Year
2027: SP Mike Miller (AA)

Aurora Announces 2027 Minor League Players of the Year

Minor League Hitter of the Year

OF Ricardo Zamora (A)
Ricardo Zamora was the Borealis' 1st round pick in the 2025 Draft (29th overall) out of Toyama Gakuin, days after he was awarded the International Collegiate Outstanding Hitter Award - after a senior year of hitting .348 with 17 HR. He would be a Hawaiian League All-Star and be name the leagues Outstanding Hitter. After a first season split between Mokulle'ia (.275/12 HR) and SLRC (.295/2 HR in 12 games), Zamora would begin 2026 at AA Gatineau, before being promoted to Thornton a week later - where he would spend the year and mostly struggle (.217/13 HR). But those struggles may have been worth it, as this year he hit .290 with 21 HR, 65 RBI and 27 SB. He began the 2027 season as PEBA's 18th rated prospect and was a GBB All-Star. He just nudged out 2024 #1 pick 1B Jose Torres as this years Top Hitter award - the stolen bases being the 'tie-breaker', if you will.

The future for Zamaora (as well as Torres and the 2024/25 winner Roberto Martinez) may very well be told this offseason as Aurora finds themselves in that delicate place where their once young and mighty team is starting to show it's age.

SP Jesus Solis (AA)
Jesus Solis was a 2026 Supplemental Round 6th pick for Aurora (38th overall, Aurora's second selection in that years draft - after the oft-injured SP Rob Imhoff). Drafted out of Michigan State, where he was impressive with a career 1.36 ERA as mostly a reliever, he did spend his senior year as a starter with a 1.60 ERA. At Mokule'ia, following the draft, he was outstanding with a 6-3 mark and a 1.79 ERA - good enough to finish second in the HL Outstanding Pitcher voting. This year he started off in SLRC and after 6 satisfactory starts, was promoted to AA where he was just 6-8, but with a 2.96 ERA with 104 K in 109 IP.

Unlike the previous few hitting award winners, Solis' immediate future is a known - he'll begin 2028 at AAA Thornton, along with his 2026 Draft mate Imhoff.

Palm Springs Minor League Player Awards 2027
Image
Palm Springs' Minor League Hitter of the Year for 2027 is second baseman Pablo Ortíz. Discovered by a Codgers scout in the Dominican Republic, the San Domingo native signed a contract with the club in 2022, just a day after his sixteenth birthday. After marinating in the Codgers' international complex in Santiago, Chile, Ortíz performed creditably at low-A Lanai'i City in 2026, then burst on the scene in a big way in 2027, being named to the 2027 North American Farm Team Affiliation All-Star Team and eventually being promoted all the way to AAA. Though he is barely 21 years old, an appearance with the big club in 2028 is not out of the question for this precocious youngster.

Image
Minor League Pitcher of the Year Víctor Andrés is a relative newcomer to the Palm Springs system, having arrived from Shin Seiki last December as part of the Evas' winter trade for big-league closer Jim Ratzlaff. The 24-year-old, originally taken by San Juan in the first round of the 2024 amateur draft, spent the 2027 season in the rotation at AAA Provo, where he racked up 135 strikeouts and a 2.36 ERA over 24 starts. With continued improvement, it seems a cinch that we'll be seeing him in a Codgers uniform sooner rather than later.
