It is kind of sad to see that Reno currently sits on top of the 'WAR Gained' list by acquiring no players but letting the most players go with a negative WAR from last season.

I am very surprised no major signings yet in FA, usually, we have lots of action.

I don't know - it's early; we've only had one real FA sim thus far... I think...

Yeah typically it goes a couple sims as the players jack up their asking prices and teams bid against each other.

The Toyama Budget Dancers are only in the market for some depth players so hopefully things go smoothly without any bidding wars.

There are definitely some big names on the market and I’m interested to see who will go where. Most notably, the 41 year old Rob Raines who continues to perform well for his age. I can’t wait to see where he ends up and when he will finally hang up his cleats.

Rob is asking for a lot of dough plus years for his age. But given his performance this past season I don't blame him for asking for more than he made last season. (Platinum Stick Award at age 41 is awesome) A lot of risk given who knows how long he can do this for...

I honestly think if he was pure DH he could play another 4 - 5 years easily. I took more time looking today and saw another player that I liked. I think this will be a very interesting FA as many guys who are asking 20 mil plus have zero offers out on them.

After extending Marcos Sanchez, KyT doesn't have much financial flexibility ... adding more kids

I wonder if some of these high dollar and/or compensation-eligible guys will end up signing with the WIL instead of us tightfisted PEBA types.

It's interesting about those WIL teams - they are all in pretty massive debt - judging by their cash on hand and their payroll v. budget:

Team / Payroll / Budget / projected balance / Cash
Charleston / 97,190,000 / 66,000,000 / -22,935,852 / -29,000,000
Gloucester / 116,294,150 / 65,000,000 / -31,249,557 / -17,000,000
Kure / 96,474,150 / 79,000,000 / -16,704,759 / -1,000,000
Kuwana / 92,980,000 / 59,000,000 / -29,448,211 / -6,500,000
Long Beach / 80,370,000 / 54,000,000 / -31,630,538 / -10,000,000
New Jersey / 118,590,000 / 91,000,000 / -19,202,697 / -8,000,000
Long Beach / 80,370,000 / 54,000,000 / -31,630,538 / -10,000,000
Niihama-shi / 124,024,150 / 124,000,000 / -12,245,355 / -4,000,000

Only Manchester shows a positive projected budget - but that's only $364,768 - and they have a negative cash balance (-430,000).

So, in theory, shouldn't these teams be unable to sign mega-contracts?

They should not be able to sign anyone with that much debt
