Ootp 18 Migration

#1 Post by Morris Ragland »

This thread is for discussing the upcoming migration over to Ootp 18, and any troubles that pop for GMs with the initial league file.

As has already been noted, GMs need to make sure that they are running version 18.7.74.

will there be a 'start-up' file or are you needing everyone to do thier own conversion???

I am asking because I have v18 on a new tower where v17 was on laptop (storate is close to full and as you see it's not happy these days)

Be sure to flip the show personality switch so we can see the meager collection that v18 does show - I believe the default is to hide this.

Here's a rundown on some adjustments I made over the weekend:
  • Adjusted IF HS (domestic high school feeder league) demographics. It is now the source of players born in the US and US territories (American Samoa, Guam, Marshall Islands, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands) with a very small portion of random foreign students.
  • Adjusted USCBA (domestic college feeder) created player demographics in line with IF HS.
  • Adjusted IHS demographics. It is now the source of players born in Australia, Canada, Cuba, England, Japan, the Netherlands, and Scotland as well as a small number of random foreign players. This brings the production of talent in line with the locations of current PEBA franchises and gives clubs access to 'local' prospects/players.
  • Edited IHS players. As previously noted, the league was 99.9% US born. Randomly changed players' country of origin (as well as names and faces, where appropriate) to fit current created player distribution. Am about halfway done with this process.
  • Adjusted PEBA International Scouting Discoveries distribution. This, along with International FA (which was unchanged), will be the primary source of players born in countries not represented in the feeder leagues, but that have a baseball quality of 3 stars or higher, as well as random countries of origin.
  • Adjusted WIL financial settings to bring any new WIL contracts into line with PEBA rules for length and minimum salary.
  • Adjusted WIL income settings to give the AI run teams a chance to turn a profit and introduced a salary cap of $115M.
  • Incorporated uniforms for WIL Long Beach club.

I don't know about other teams but Aurora players took some huge hits on the ratings side. I know this has happened in the past, but man...

Yeah, you're definitely not alone in that. I've looked at a handful of players, and I can say that true ratings appear to be untouched.

This is a change in player evaluation rather than actual performance ability.

Mike I noticed this with migration to 17 at that time and gradually ratings went back to close to where they were with 16 after a couple months.

That's somewhat encouraging - especially considering I sent 'Fudd' to winter ball and his rating for that feature went down on the re-scout...
