I'd be willing to go an hour earlier on the West 'is the Best' Coast, to make it a little less late for Mark...

I will be in the middle of Glacier National Park. If there is any semblance of service - I will do my best to log in. I am sorry that I won't be able to be there most likely.

Not sure how I should feel about this but because Glacier Park is on fire, my trip was canceled. Thus I can attend winter meetings!

(11:51:51) Thoroughbreds: right
(11:55:27) Admin: Coqui logs into the Chat.
(11:55:53) Coqui: Anyone started selling tix yet or did I really crash my fan base?
(11:57:36) Harpoon: None yet for me
(11:58:04) Sandgnats: None yet here either
(11:59:49) Coqui: That's good. :),,,not sure how long I can stay. Not much in a dealing mood anyway. Am frustrated and a bit mystified by my competition for FAs.
(12:00:01) Harpoon: Hartford open to dealing some players both majors and minors. Just don't ask about Cedeno/Ryan.
(12:00:17) Evas: No ticket sales here yet
(12:00:32) Harpoon: Still some quality FAs left, too bad there asking for a ton of money
(12:00:45) Admin: Commish logs into the Chat.
(12:01:04) Thoroughbreds: ya FA are out of my league ....
(12:01:45) Borealis: The asks are always out of control...
(12:02:03) Commish: Welcome to the 19th edition of the PEBA Winter Meetings. I have some brief opening remarks. I wanted to thank all of our GMs for their patience during a challenging offseason, and offer special thanks to Kevin (Evas) for his work integrating contract rules amendments into our constitution document. We finally have all the rules in one place! Thanks also to Reg and Dan for making themselves available when able to answer questions and help with management tasks. And congratulations to our General Manager of the Year, Greg Abcarian (West Virginia). Year in and year out, the Alleghenies are one of the best run organizations in the alliance, well deserved.
(12:02:09) Thoroughbreds: it's early ... as Spring gets near asking rices drop
(12:02:10) Borealis: Not only some good FAs available, but also a lot of extensions signed as well...
(12:02:40) Sandgnats: Congrats Greg!
(12:02:59) Coqui: For the guy I am going after, I've decided on plan B instead which is a guy from a team that I am bidding against for plan A...and he doesn't require compensation. Trying to figure out what is wrong with him that team wouldn't have resigned him instead.
(12:03:25) Coqui: Or the player's agent is lying to me.:P
(12:03:33) Borealis: Hmmmmmmm.... mysterious...
(12:03:43) Evas: Looking to move SP prospect Kyle Weaver - OSA loves him. About 1 year from being PEBA ready, but out of options. Would be an ideal piece for a team not looking to contend for a couple seasons.
(12:03:48) Borealis: He's got you bidding against yourself...
(12:04:18) Admin: Akira logs into the Chat.
(12:05:34) Commish: January 12 Headlines: Free Agent Reliever Larry 'Hulk' Taylor re-ups with Shin Seiki. Okinawa signs Free Agent Reliever Júlio 'Tapper' González.
(12:05:53) Evas: Oooh, nice!
(12:06:01) Sandgnats: sweet!
(12:06:59) Borealis: Shisa seem to have had a busy offseason...
(12:07:35) Akira: I don't see Weaver, Kevin.
(12:07:43) Commish: Shisa had a glaring area of need.
(12:09:16) Sandgnats: Everyone, I'd like to throw out there that when we migrate to OOTP18, the new version allows the ability to include salary within a player trade. I think we should address amending our rules to account for this fun new option.
(12:09:42) Evas: Ron - http://www.pebabaseball.com/reports/ne ... 0778.html - He's on the DL at the moment.
(12:09:53) Akira: OK, he's on the DL
(12:09:57) Thoroughbreds: 8o:P
(12:10:04) Harpoon: Wow, your not joking about OSA loving him
(12:10:04) Akira: I see him now
(12:10:53) Evas: Yeah. That's why it's still tempting to just give him the roster spot. How much damage can he really do as the last man in my pen? That upside is huge.
(12:11:11) Coqui: I have to go unfortunately but I am looking for a cleanup hitter (I have DH and RF open), but is probably more a FA thing. It is also a make or break year from Juan Ayala at AAA and be willing to package him and Dan Field to fill those holes or a reliable mid rotation starter.
(12:11:24) Borealis: If he can gain some control...
(12:11:53) Sandgnats: Has Weaver been to winter ball yet?
(12:12:34) Evas: Not that I recall, but I can't say with 100% certainty. Let me see if I can find that.
(12:13:12) Thoroughbreds: maybe we should put notes in their history when they go to Winter ball
(12:13:40) Borealis: Keep in mind a trade for him would require he wait until next winter to do winter ball...
(12:13:44) Coqui: Looks like he blew people away with that fastball in college but hasn't so far as a pro.
(12:13:50) Borealis: I think that's an excellent idea Duane...
(12:14:07) Sandgnats: that's true and one more day of PEBA service and he would not be eligible
(12:14:14) Commish: There's a Winter Ball Log in the Q&A section.
(12:14:19) Sandgnats: agrred Duane
(12:14:26) Sandgnats: agreed*
(12:14:33) Thoroughbreds: somehting simple like 12/25/2025 Completed Winter Ball
(12:14:53) Evas: Yeah it looks like he has not been to WB according to the log
(12:15:10) Coqui: I see he only had the one outing in AAA. His AA season was decent enough.
(12:15:40) Akira: Coming off a major arm injury too
(12:15:49) Sandgnats: can someone send me the link to the winter ball log please
(12:16:09) Evas: http://pebabaseball.com/boards/viewtop ... =25&t=9908
(12:16:17) Sandgnats: thank you!
(12:16:19) Trendsetters: http://pebabaseball.com/boards/viewtop ... =25&t=9908
(12:16:52) Sandgnats: thanks guys!
(12:16:53) Commish: I am pleased to announce that the following teams will be receiving a fan loyalty increase this offseason for outperforming their fans' expectations in 2025: Canton (from Average to Above Average), Duluth (from Good to Very Good), Havana (from Good to Very Good), and West Virginia (from Great to EXTREME).
(12:18:06) Trendsetters: wow cool
(12:18:20) Sandgnats: congrats to those organizations for a job well done!
(12:18:32) Akira: Thank you
(12:18:38) Akira: oh, wait
(12:18:43) Coqui: Thanks for the winter ball list. Two of the players was considering already sent. :(
(12:20:25) Borealis: Good Job guys!!
(12:21:27) Evas: Also looking to move P Juan Castro (ML) - Big contract has not worked out at all. Should be a great RP though. Willing to look at taking on another massive contract in a deal.
(12:24:36) Sandgnats: Still looking to unload LF Roberto Ruiz or C Hayato Yamasaki for the purpose of a salary dump in exchange for prospects/picks.
(12:25:06) Admin: Coqui has been logged out (Timeout).
(12:28:38) Admin: Alleghenies logs into the Chat.
(12:28:47) Borealis: I'm wondering how much the late meeting date and all the early wheeling and dealing will effect today's activity? The offseason has been pretty robust so far...
(12:28:54) Alleghenies: howdy all
(12:28:58) Borealis: Hey Greg!!
(12:29:04) Trendsetters: Hi Greg!
(12:29:13) Sandgnats: Hi Greg!
(12:29:24) Alleghenies: Sure I missed a bunch
(12:29:39) Trendsetters: now that you're here, congrats on the GM of the year award, Greg
(12:29:52) Borealis: Yes!!
(12:30:04) Alleghenies: Woohoo Thanks guys!!!
(12:30:15) Sandgnats: Congrats Greg!
(12:30:29) Alleghenies: LRS and now PEBA GM of Year
(12:30:31) Alleghenies: I can retire
(12:30:46) Evas: Nicely done, Greg
(12:30:56) Alleghenies: And even better
(12:31:02) Alleghenies: I got my favorite guy back
(12:31:03) Alleghenies: Sai
(12:31:55) Evas: He had a nice bounce back 2nd half last season
(12:32:04) Commish: January 13 Headlines: Neo-Tokyo Akira: Signed free agent SP Markus Hancock to a 1-year contract worth a total of $1,632,000.
(12:32:21) Trendsetters: hey that's true. you had him for years in the LRS
(12:32:26) Sandgnats: Markus is still in the game!
(12:32:43) Trendsetters: wow
(12:32:48) Evas: He is? Jeez
(12:32:59) Borealis: Wow!!
(12:33:17) Evas: He was actually a very good RP last season
(12:33:32) Borealis: I thought about throwing him some bones, just for the fun of it - We were so close so many moons ago...
(12:33:35) Sandgnats: for sure. He's got a few more fireworks left in the bag!
(12:33:55) Evas: His velocity is gone, but he seems to be able to get by on sheer wiles
(12:34:04) Sandgnats: that 85MPH fast ball....
(12:34:20) Trendsetters: quite the salary cut for him but good signing, especially at that price. can't go wrong
(12:34:21) Alleghenies: Any trades made today?
(12:34:31) Alleghenies: Anyone want to work a deal for MErcer
(12:34:36) Borealis: His stuff haas diminished greatly (according to Joe Horn), but he needs two wins to reach 250 - that'd be cool!!!
(12:34:44) Evas: Not to far, Greg. We're just getting rolling
(12:35:00) Alleghenies: When is next export due
(12:35:22) Trendsetters: tonight we receive the post-WM file, I believe.
(12:35:22) Commish: Next export will be due Tuesday night.
(12:35:52) Alleghenies: Anyone got a a 1b that plays defense for trade?
(12:37:54) Evas: So who is looking to do what?
(12:38:28) Alleghenies: I am looking to acquire a 1b, 4th OF and maybe a C
(12:40:23) Thoroughbreds: I'd like to move 2 or 3 pitchers from AAA .... maybe get a Catcher to replace my departed to FA Szema
(12:40:26) Alleghenies: I only traded Sai because he wouldn't resign with me and then the Evas signed him to a long extenstion
(12:41:18) Harpoon: Open to moving Yoshino/Shiskikura. Also have Yates sitting in AAA who could round-out a rotation somewhere.
(12:41:54) Evas: What did Sai sign for?
(12:42:36) Borealis: He's been around - another guy (aside from 'Fireworks') who's been around the block and just signed: Bobby Watson - I couldn't believe he was still playing...
(12:43:04) Sandgnats: Bobby had a good year last season too!
(12:43:12) Sandgnats: I let him go thinking it was all over!
(12:43:16) Alleghenies: 3/12
(12:43:44) Alleghenies: team option year 3
(12:43:55) Sandgnats: Hey guys besides trading and dealing. Are we discussing any organizational/rule issues yet?
(12:44:02) Evas: That's very reasonable. His ratings still look great
(12:44:06) Borealis: I looked back at the deal that sent him off The Front Range - that worked out pretty well for us...
(12:44:23) Alleghenies: Yeah and now I have a pen of 4 closers
(12:44:25) Alleghenies: :-)
(12:44:37) Borealis: If you can keep them happy...
(12:44:41) Alleghenies: York, Kichida, Sai, Montgomery
(12:44:42) Sandgnats: I wonder how 3 of them will handle, not being the closer
(12:44:50) Alleghenies: I keep everyone happy :-)
(12:44:57) Sandgnats: Doberman got very mad at me when I made him set up man for a couple weeks
(12:45:03) Sandgnats: haha yes u do Greg ;)
(12:45:04) Evas: I hated trading away Kichida
(12:45:04) Alleghenies: Well I had 2 not close last year and they loved me
(12:45:20) Alleghenies: Kichida just signed a 2 year extension
(12:45:22) Borealis: We'll take the 'Moondggie' off your hands...
(12:45:36) Trendsetters: on a side note, congrats to Denny of the Palm Spring Codgers for becoming the first GM in PEBA history to compete in 3,000 league games! Since the box scores for 2025 aren't available, the milestone was set sometime in early-July (PS' 83rd game)
(12:45:47) Commish: The following teams will be receiving a fan loyalty decrease this offseason after falling short of their fans' expectations in 2025: Amsterdam (from Great to Very Good), Arlington (from Great to Very Good), London (from Very Good to Good), and Okinawa (from Very Good to Good). The good news for these teams is that they are immune to any further performance based fan loyalty drops for the next two years.
(12:45:52) Evas: But that's the deal that got me Suitani, so I can't really complain
(12:47:41) Alleghenies: Make an offer no player is immune to being traded by me
(12:47:58) Sandgnats: I'm done trading with you Greg ;) hehehe
(12:48:09) Alleghenies: Why is that?
(12:48:19) Alleghenies: Our trade got you a ring
(12:48:30) Sandgnats: oh that one! true :)
(12:48:31) Alleghenies: If anything you should trade with me always!!!
(12:48:33) Sandgnats: nevermind
(12:48:34) Sandgnats: :)
(12:48:36) Sandgnats: hahahahahhaaha
(12:49:16) Sandgnats: oh Kouno.....
(12:49:22) Sandgnats: not so much...
(12:49:33) Thoroughbreds: is Denny the only GM that's been here from the start?
(12:49:56) Akira: I hope Marcus Hancocks reputation won't be tainted by signing with NT.
(12:50:18) Trendsetters: yes. Denny the original PEBA'er. You are too, Duane, minus a season
(12:50:18) Sandgnats: Perhaps he didn't save his money and needs to make a last million?
(12:50:26) Akira: But it is cool that his timeline will forever after have AKira on it
(12:50:35) Trendsetters: lots of originals from LRS, but I believe that started 2-3 years later
(12:50:37) Akira: Should be able to get him 2 wins
(12:50:56) Thoroughbreds: I am minus a season plus I started in Ky at the first draft
(12:51:11) Thoroughbreds: wasn't here for setup nor start
(12:51:36) Sandgnats: Has Denny always been GM of the Codgers?
(12:51:52) Trendsetters: yup. since day one, I believe
(12:52:07) Thoroughbreds: yes
(12:52:31) Thoroughbreds: he made pink fashionable on the field
(12:52:45) Sandgnats: B)
(12:53:30) Thoroughbreds: ok we need to make a deal here
(12:53:48) Thoroughbreds: who wants a reliever
(12:54:55) Alleghenies: I love relievers
(12:54:59) Alleghenies: who you got :-)
(12:59:32) Harpoon: Open to moving C Scott Francis. Excellent defensive catcher with some pop. Looking for any combination of a replacement, prospects, picks, or other players
(13:00:17) Admin: Longshoremen logs into the Chat.
(13:00:27) Longshoremen: Darn it, I'm late
(13:00:37) Longshoremen: Anyone want closer Julian Olivares?
(13:00:46) Longshoremen: Any big trades so far?
(13:01:06) Sandgnats: Welcome to the Great Lakes Canton!
(13:01:37) Longshoremen: You forgot the "back" there CL.
(13:01:55) Borealis: Yup!!
(13:01:56) Commish: No signings to report on January 14.
(13:03:13) Sandgnats: I've only been here 2 seasons :)
(13:04:58) Borealis: :P
(13:06:45) Borealis: I love one of the new CP awards - nicknames for minor league playoff teams - any good ideas out there?
(13:09:25) Evas: Still looking to move top Pitching Prospect Kyle Weaver - OSA Loves him. Will be ready in about another season. But out of options. Ideal for a rebuilding club,
(13:10:35) Alleghenies: Or just wait and get him on waivers ;-) lol
(13:11:24) Zephyrs: My scout says "If he comes in with his team down 1, he leaves with them down 5"
(13:11:39) Zephyrs: :P
(13:11:54) Sandgnats: I agree Mike, the nickname reward is awesome
(13:12:34) Trendsetters: yup big fan of the nicknames too
(13:12:52) Trendsetters: just ask my draftee 'Kool-Aid' Jim Jones...
(13:13:11) Admin: Codgers logs into the Chat.
(13:13:20) Sandgnats: what flavor reg?
(13:13:26) Longshoremen: Any signings on any of the other days?
(13:13:28) Codgers: Okay, let's get to meetin'!
(13:14:04) Trendsetters: @ Sandgnats ... "punch"-out flavor :)
(13:14:15) Sandgnats: nice!!!
(13:14:22) Alleghenies: Alleghenies needs: Catcher, 4th OF, Starting 1b that plays D
(13:14:37) Longshoremen: @ Sandgnats: RIPpin' Red' Cherry
(13:15:00) Borealis: Hey Denny!!
(13:15:12) Trendsetters: hey Denny!
(13:15:20) Sandgnats: Denny! Hey Ol'G!
(13:15:26) Codgers: ¡Hola!
(13:16:12) Trendsetters: we talked about this earlier, but congrats on becoming the first PEBA/LRS GM to compete in 3,000 games, Denny!
(13:16:14) Thoroughbreds: OC Denny is here
(13:16:57) Codgers: Thanks! Codgers have great staying power
(13:17:01) Commish: For new arrivals, some old news. January 12 Headlines: Free Agent Reliever Larry 'Hulk' Taylor re-ups with Shin Seiki. Okinawa signs Free Agent Reliever Júlio 'Tapper' González.
(13:17:29) Commish: January 13 Headlines: Neo-Tokyo Akira: Signed free agent SP Markus Hancock to a 1-year contract worth a total of $1,632,000.
(13:18:51) Commish: The Yuma Bulldozers will be seeing their market size shrink (from Rather Big to Above Average) after falling dramatically short of their fans' expectations in 2025.
(13:19:23) Thoroughbreds: ouch ... water shortage in Yuma
(13:19:23) Trendsetters: been a tough year for 'Dozer fans
(13:19:32) Codgers: Oh man
(13:20:07) Alleghenies: Well I know I won't be making any winter meeting signings, since my 3 guys I have offers to already replied back
(13:20:21) Sandgnats: oh here we go Yuma water!
(13:22:31) Trendsetters: lots of pending FA activity for New Orleans at the moment
(13:28:00) Longshoremen: For those newcomers, I'm dangling veteran closer Julian Olivares.
(13:30:08) Sandgnats: Looking to unload salary LF Roberto Ruiz and/or C Hayato Yamasaki for picks/prospects
(13:32:13) Evas: Looking at add a RH Catcher with plus plus catching ability.
(13:32:40) Evas: Would be OK if he only hits Lefties well.
(13:33:43) Commish: Janaury 15 Headlines: Fargo Dinosaurs: Signed free agent 1B Ryutaro Okada to a 2-year contract worth a total of $22,000,000. Bakersfield Bears: Signed free agent SP Neil Maes to a 4-year contract worth a total of $91,500,000. New Orleans Trendsetters: Signed free agent SP Hisashi Kokan to a 7-year contract worth a total of $70,000,000. Bakersfield Bears: Signed free agent SP Tsuginori Takeda to a 2-year contract worth a total of $4,000,000.
(13:34:00) Sandgnats: WOW!
(13:34:48) Evas: Okada was an amazing signing for me last season. Best platoon bat ever.
(13:34:51) Trendsetters: :D
(13:34:56) Borealis: Makes heading home...
(13:35:07) Evas: That Kokan deal could be a steal.
(13:35:11) Thoroughbreds: I was right ... those dang Bears had a secret pack with Maes
(13:35:55) Codgers: I really liked having Okada on my team too
(13:36:09) Alleghenies: Okada did well in Dayton/FY
(13:36:09) Trendsetters: real excited to have Kokan
(13:36:13) Sandgnats: those are some really interesting signings
(13:37:05) Sandgnats: 22.8/yr for Maes
(13:37:07) Akira: comp eligible though which scared me off
(13:37:12) Borealis: *Maes
(13:37:22) Akira: not a bad $ amount though
(13:37:30) Sandgnats: agreed
(13:37:35) Akira: for Kokan
(13:37:50) Alleghenies: Maes got way overpaid
(13:38:12) Sandgnats: Bears had alot of money to throw around
(13:38:43) Alleghenies: Unless those are vesting options, better ways to spend it
(13:38:58) Sandgnats: yeah im interested to see the details of the deal
(13:39:07) Alleghenies: I don't get some logic in this league.
(13:39:16) Sandgnats: Is the Kokan 10M/yr spread out even Reg?
(13:39:22) Alleghenies: or in other leagues for that matter ;-)
(13:39:47) Alleghenies: While Kokan #'s suck imo, he can still be good and for that money why not
(13:40:27) Sandgnats: I'd agree not bad value. Starters can be expensive
(13:41:14) Longshoremen: Must be nice to have money. Fortunately, I'm pretty satisfied w my rotation.6th best ERA in IL while playing in an extreme hitters park.
(13:41:27) Longshoremen: I need bats.
(13:41:27) Borealis: Tell me about starters being expensive...
(13:42:29) Sandgnats: Those guys must have some great Mansions on the front rage Mike
(13:42:33) Sandgnats: range*
(13:43:11) Borealis: Oh... Provost has a spectacular place above Boulder, by the Flat Irons - majestic!
(13:46:04) Borealis: FYI... https://snowbrains.com/wp-content/uplo ... irons1.jpg
(13:46:18) Commish: The Hartford Harpoon will be seeing their market size increase (from Rather Big to Big) after wildly exceeding their fans' expectations in 2025.
(13:46:35) Codgers: Freakin' Hartford, man
(13:46:44) Harpoon: :)
(13:47:07) Sandgnats: congrats Hartford!
(13:47:21) Sandgnats: Holy cow Mike....
(13:47:56) Alleghenies: Well I know I pleased my fans we have 4 million :-)
(13:48:15) Alleghenies: Broke our record by 400K+
(13:48:52) Alleghenies: Congrats Hartford!!!
(13:49:16) Harpoon: Show me the money!!
(13:49:17) Commish: For those that missed it. I am pleased to announce that the following teams will be receiving a fan loyalty increase this offseason for outperforming their fans' expectations in 2025: Canton (from Average to Above Average), Duluth (from Good to Very Good), Havana (from Good to Very Good), and West Virginia (from Great to EXTREME). The following teams will be receiving a fan loyalty decrease this offseason after falling short of their fans' expectations in 2025: Amsterdam (from Great to Very Good), Arlington (from Great to Very Good), London (from Very Good to Good), and Okinawa (from Very Good to Good). The good news for these teams is that they are immune to any further performance based fan loyalty drops for the next two years.
(13:49:25) Sandgnats: who had the best cost efficiency for wins this year?
(13:50:08) Alleghenies: Woohoo We are EXTREME!!!
(13:51:07) Alleghenies: Time to raise the prices!!!
(13:51:17) Sandgnats: hahah!
(13:51:25) Borealis: @'Gnats - Duluth?
(13:51:29) Sandgnats: higher than Yuma tickets?
(13:51:34) Alleghenies: tickets will go from 31 to 41 dollars next year
(13:51:49) Borealis: Yeah, how about those Yuman ticket prices??
(13:51:59) Trendsetters: @ RJ -> payroll/wins?
(13:52:09) Trendsetters: sorry wins/total payroll?
(13:52:11) Thoroughbreds: I guess water is expensive
(13:52:20) Sandgnats: My in game states I was 3#
(13:52:21) Borealis: I think Aurora's nudging up $0.50 this year...
(13:52:23) Codgers: in the desert
(13:52:39) Sandgnats: I think you have to pay to flush the toilet in Yuma
(13:52:39) Borealis: Where do you see that RJ?
(13:53:08) Sandgnats: Front Office/Fiances
(13:53:16) Sandgnats: Finances
(13:53:28) Sandgnats: one of the drop downs is Cost Efficiency
(13:54:10) Trendsetters: oh wow cool. never noticed that
(13:54:19) Trendsetters: we are #6 here apparently
(13:54:27) Trendsetters: in cost efficiency
(13:54:54) Sandgnats: My owner is a stingy guy... so I have to keep an eye on this....
(13:55:10) Alleghenies: Anyone want C Chris Risdale *750k contract.
(13:55:24) Borealis: AH... Thanks! I never noticed that - Yeah, we were dead last...
(13:55:26) Codgers: Whoa....according to my dropdown PS was #1 in nearly every Cost Efficiency category!!
(13:55:35) Borealis: well... almost last...
(13:55:42) Sandgnats: Good Job Denny!!
(13:55:45) Commish: So. Anybody notice anything fishy about our International High School league?
(13:56:07) Borealis: Aurora, Last in Efficiency, First in Division!!!
(13:56:22) Sandgnats: good job Mike! LOL
(13:56:46) Borealis: Efficiency, Smiffency... That's our motto!!
(13:56:53) Alleghenies: OR SP Mauro Rocha?
(13:56:55) Codgers: Yeah, efficiency isn't everything
(13:57:28) Sandgnats: unless you're cheap ;) (Mr. Dole)
(13:57:59) Borealis: What's up there Morris?
(13:58:17) Sandgnats: I love the HS teamnames
(13:58:25) Codgers: I think the previous Bears GM said once that he suspected there might be some diminishing returns for efficiency--that the very top end guys are NEVER going to be the most efficient, but you need to have some of them
(13:58:47) Sandgnats: very good point Denny
(13:59:10) Evas: Efficiency is not the same thing as effectiveness
(13:59:23) Trendsetters: I wonder if we're going to have at least a trade or two today?
(13:59:30) Commish: All but two of our "international" high schoolers is an American.
(13:59:38) Borealis: Well... Randy Smith was #9 for us...
(14:00:02) Sandgnats: We had so much trading prior to winter meetings
(14:00:05) Codgers: Maybe their parents all came from somewhere else
(14:00:06) Borealis: Those must all be American Army Schools....
(14:00:08) Akira: I do have a 16 yo that should be in the IC but is in SS-A
(14:00:08) Trendsetters: hmmmm interesting
(14:01:20) Harpoon: AS much as a I want to trade, I have little money and my team just came off of a deep playoff run.
(14:02:33) Commish: I agree that the pre WM trades took some of the air out. We'll get 'em next year.
(14:02:56) Thoroughbreds: and I'm not gonna pay alot for this muffler
(14:03:47) Borealis: @ Commish - as you are processing things, take a look at Tomas Flores - he still is showing as being on a minor league contract - even though he came from Duluth's major league roster to ours...
(14:04:34) Borealis: Muffler? Are the T-breds changing their names to the T-birds???
(14:05:31) Thoroughbreds: lol .... nope. just quoting an old commercial from the 70s(???)
(14:05:48) Alleghenies: I remember that commercial
(14:06:09) Alleghenies: Meineke
(14:06:31) Admin: Sandgnats has been logged out (Timeout).
(14:08:02) Commish: That's a wrap for the winter meetings. Quiet this year, but I hope a pleasant diversion for you all. Not much to process in the league file, so it should be up early this evening. Thanks for coming and feel free to hang out in chat.
(14:08:26) Thoroughbreds: wow no trades
(14:08:36) Alleghenies: I tried!!!
(14:08:39) Codgers: I didn't realize we were done so soon
(14:08:42) Evas: Bleh. I tried too.
(14:08:58) Codgers: I thought it was 3 hours instead of 2 :(
(14:09:04) Alleghenies: I blame Irma
(14:09:14) Evas: Commish, teams work out deals between now and sim time, would they count as WM deals?
(14:09:43) Codgers: When IS sim time today?
(14:09:58) Commish: I'll extend you one hour, you'll need to PM the deal as normal.
(14:10:12) Borealis: I thought we were going to 1 PDT
(14:10:24) Trendsetters: 11 trades leading up to the WM and it looks like still a lot of people with money tied up in FA offers
(14:10:41) Codgers: I know....I was just sitting around chatting instead of driving hard bargains
(14:11:42) Commish: To quote myself from a month ago "For new GMs, a bit about the Winter Meetings. This is a non-mandatory live league event which begins at 1 pm eastern time and is held in the PEBA chat room, just click on the "PEBA Live Chat" link in the forums. This event runs for two hours. Every half hour I advance the sim one day."
(14:12:07) Admin: Sandgnats logs into the Chat.
(14:12:09) Alleghenies: You expect us to remember 1 month ago :-)
(14:12:16) Evas: Fair enough. Thanks, Commish.
(14:12:32) Evas: So the store is still open here for another hour, even if we are done simming
(14:12:38) Codgers: Plus none of us are new GMs....we probably didn't even read it
(14:12:48) Borealis: Thanks Morris!
(14:12:59) Borealis: 8o
(14:13:03) Evas: I don't really watch the clock here. I just let things meander.
(14:13:09) Sandgnats: Thank you Morris. Sorry guys just got back. Had connectivity issues
(14:13:25) Codgers: Thanks for the extra hour Commish!
(14:13:26) Borealis: @ EvilEvas - Ditto...
(14:13:41) Codgers: I will probably still end up wasting it, but it's nice to have the option
(14:13:47) Sandgnats: Are able to download the latest file yet?
(14:15:15) Evas: Sandgnats - not until after the sim later tonight
(14:15:16) Borealis: Not Olivas?
(14:15:34) Commish: The 1/11/26 file is still up for download. The 1/16/26 file will go up around 7pm Eastern tonight. There is nothing to export yet. Exports will be due Tuesday night.
(14:15:38) Borealis: Never mind... :O

(14:21:42) Admin: Sandgnats logs into the Chat.
(14:23:11) Thoroughbreds: younger or pick
(14:23:26) Alleghenies: I'd rather be younger
(14:23:27) Alleghenies: :-)
(14:23:42) Thoroughbreds: and if we make a deal the first deal of 2025 will be between the 2 longest tenured GMs
(14:24:33) Thoroughbreds: senility
(14:24:43) Thoroughbreds: I was talking to ummmm ya
(14:24:50) Sandgnats: Thank you Morris!
(14:24:54) Codgers: lol
(14:25:31) Thoroughbreds: texting and chatting is tough sometimes
(14:26:47) Borealis: @ KTY - Indeed!!!
(14:26:56) Borealis: <--- Guilty...
(14:27:14) Sandgnats: 8o
(14:28:27) Zephyrs: watching the Indians go for 17th straight win and chatting is tough
(14:28:37) Borealis: Go Tribe!!
(14:29:34) Borealis: The only thing better, at this time, is watching the dodgers lose... Again!!!
(14:30:11) Zephyrs: don't you hate big market teams with a history of winning?
(14:31:12) Sandgnats: LOL
(14:31:39) Sandgnats: those big market blue colored teams? ;)
(14:32:06) Zephyrs: nice, forgot about the blue connection
(14:36:21) Borealis: No... Mostly just the dodgers...
(14:36:39) Admin: Codgers rolls 1d6 and gets 5.
(14:36:39) Borealis: >:-D
(14:37:05) Sandgnats: :D
(14:37:14) Admin: Sandgnats rolls 1d6 and gets 4.
(14:37:28) Codgers: I win!!
(14:37:58) Codgers: That roll was for the 2026 SL championship, right?
(14:39:35) Borealis: Nah...
(14:39:46) Sandgnats: LOL
(14:40:05) Codgers: Well, it was worth a try
(14:40:07) Sandgnats: good roll Denny!
(14:40:21) Alleghenies: It was for the 2021 Championship!!!
(14:40:46) Codgers: Excellent! 8)
(14:44:18) Commish: Announcing the 1st Trade of the Winter Meetings: Kentucky exchanges SP Ricardo Martinez for Palm Springs's 5th Round Pick.
(14:45:52) Evas: Nice. Going O-fer just felt wrong.
(14:46:09) Thoroughbreds: exactly
(14:46:26) Thoroughbreds: ok who's next?
(14:46:40) Thoroughbreds: AAA RP Pedro Vega anyone???
(14:46:46) Sandgnats: congrats guys!
(14:47:25) Evas: Have we gotten CP rewards totals? When do we need to have our selections in by?
(14:47:26) Codgers: Hurray for the oldsters, saving the Winter Meetings :warning:
(14:53:32) Alleghenies: I wish someone would take my 5th round pick for a trade ;-)
(14:55:13) Sandgnats: Guys I'm still looking for a salary dump move if you have some money to throw around
(14:55:29) Sandgnats: LF Roberto Ruiz
C Hayato Yamasaki
(14:58:28) Commish: Yes, we'll have a new CP Awards Tracker up later today. I'm going to be very flexible on getting rewards in this year. Try to get them in before spring training. ;)
(14:58:41) Admin: Longshoremen has been logged out (Timeout).
(14:58:57) Evas: Indians take another one - 17 in a row!
(14:59:06) Sandgnats: Commish, when can we first start posting to cash in our CP awards?
(14:59:17) Zephyrs: great year to be an Indians fan
(14:59:58) Commish: Go ahead and start porting your rewards selections tomorrow.
(15:00:28) Alleghenies: Morris where do we send trades
(15:02:56) Alleghenies: Where or where shall we post a trade? Or where or where shall I post it?
(15:03:35) Borealis: I think trades posted in the Forum as usual...
(15:03:41) Trendsetters: I see the Codgers/Ky trade on the boards. I believe a PM to the Commish is needed too?
(15:04:01) Commish: Go ahead and PM, Greg.
(15:04:02) Codgers: Yes you have to whisper your trade to the Commish as well
(15:04:05) Alleghenies: PM on here or forum
(15:04:05) Sandgnats: anyone interested in Enrique Rios? 1B AAA
(15:05:28) Codgers: Boy, it's too bad he isn't a *little* better playing those other infield positions
((15:06:07) Borealis: :-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*
(15:06:20) Sandgnats: He's very angry with his role in my organization right now. I'd like to see if he could go somewhere to play
(15:06:26) Borealis: Man... WV & SS...
(15:06:50) Trendsetters: wants to be in the majors?
(15:06:59) Sandgnats: Wise guys!
(15:07:02) Codgers: That's a real blockbuster they just pulled off
(15:07:15) Sandgnats: yeah he wants to be in the majors. He's blocked in my org.
(15:07:21) Sandgnats: still has 2 options years left
(15:07:22) Borealis: I vote no CP for that one... >:-D
(15:07:40) Sandgnats: I agree with Mike for once! ;)
(15:07:53) Commish: Second Trade of the Winter Meetings: West Virginia and Shin Seiki swap 6th round picks.
(15:07:54) Alleghenies: I don't care about the CP
(15:08:00) Alleghenies: I get a better pick ;-)
(15:08:15) Evas: I dont care about the pick, I get CP!
(15:08:21) Sandgnats: Isn't the rule for CP someone on the 40man roster or a top prospect
(15:08:32) Evas: Is it?
(15:08:42) Sandgnats: Oh is the constitution updated on the main page?
(15:08:52) Sandgnats: at least thats what the old constitution version stated
(15:08:53) Codgers: REally? That must be new, I don't remember that rule
(15:09:12) Codgers: OR....senility on my part could be in play as well
(15:09:25) Commish: Yeah, there is no CP reward for that trade.
(15:09:27) Evas: Yes, it is. I should know that considering I just updated that section of the constitution
(15:09:32) Evas: Opps.
(15:09:42) Evas: Oh well.
(15:09:50) Codgers: Hoist by your own petard
(15:10:28) Alleghenies: Well I am close to a real trade too even if it happens after the meetings, I think I will be happy....
(15:10:35) Sandgnats: "TRADING AT WINTER MEETING 25 CP for making at least on trade at the winter meetings involving a player from your 40-man roster or Top 10 prospect.. Both partners to be present for reward to be earned."
(15:10:39) Alleghenies: And so shally the other team
(15:11:29) Commish: Third and final trade: Kentucky trades RP Pedro Vega (AAA) for Aurora's 7th round pick.
(15:12:15) Sandgnats: Rios anyone?
(15:14:05) Thoroughbreds: both guys I traded are on 40-man
(15:14:28) Commish: *flashes the lights* Okay, guys. We're done.
(15:14:42) Sandgnats: Commish we have another deal
(15:14:56) Codgers: You don't have to go home but you can't stay here
(15:16:47) Commish: Ugh.
(15:16:55) Borealis: Is that 25 CP for both teams, if only 1 player is involved? And is that 2026 CP?
(15:17:36) Borealis: <--- CP to the brim...
(15:17:47) Codgers: I assumed it was for both, and was CP to add to our current total to be spent
(15:18:29) Borealis: Hmmmmm... I'd ask if we can WM CP roll-over...
(15:19:06) Alleghenies: Another TRADE!!!
(15:19:09) Codgers: Or maybe you shouldn't be such a nickel-nose and actually spend some of your CP!
(15:19:56) Codgers: Boy, these trades are really coming in under the wire
(15:19:59) Commish: New Orleans and Hartford need to confirm trades very quickly.
(15:20:05) Borealis: <--- Not a 5¢ nose - all earned this year!! Always spend your CP!!
(15:20:15) Sandgnats: I'm posting one right now as well
(15:20:18) Codgers: 8o
(15:20:39) Borealis: YAY!!!! The Fire is burning!!! We just needed more kindling!!
(15:20:59) Codgers: Duane and I are quietly proud
(15:21:12) Admin: Longshoremen logs into the Chat.
(15:21:30) Longshoremen: Ugh, I got timed out. Anyone want Julian Olivares?
(15:21:37) Longshoremen: Trades?
(15:21:58) Codgers: There were trades aplenty during your absence
(15:22:40) Borealis: Morris wanted to close the door and all-H*ll broke loose on the trade front...
(15:22:48) Thoroughbreds: :o):o):o)
(15:23:40) Evas: Looking to make a last second deal - Take your pick of RP Jason Brown or RP Ramiro Guzman SP Sotaro Kimura - for any guy on your 40 man roster with a minor league deal. I don't need any actual talent back. I just want the CP from a WM trade...
(15:24:03) Borealis: Hey, T-breds - have you been hacking our emails?? That resembles Many Castro's new nickname...
(15:24:45) Thoroughbreds: LOLOL close as I can get to see-no speak-no hear-no
(15:24:50) Commish: I need positions and levels in the WV-HAR trade.
(15:25:37) Thoroughbreds: gotta go guys .... my pc is not happy right now
(15:25:52) Codgers: Bye Duane!
(15:25:58) Trendsetters: cya Duane!
(15:26:14) Thoroughbreds: congrats ol codger
(15:26:20) Thoroughbreds: later....
(15:26:22) Sandgnats: by Duane!
(15:26:26) Harpoon: Updated and confirmed
(15:26:26) Borealis: See Ya Duane!!
(15:27:44) Commish: 4th Trade: Crystal Lake trades 1B Enrique Rios (AAA) to New Orleans for their 3rd round pick.
(15:28:23) Alleghenies: Are you sure this wasn't the minor league winter meetings :-)
(15:28:49) Admin: Thoroughbreds has been logged out (Timeout).
(15:28:56) Commish: 5th Trade: West Virginia trades SP Alfredo Zambrano (AAA) to Hartford for RF Dewitt Barry.
(15:30:13) Commish: 5th Trade, amended: West Virginia trades SP Alfredo Zambrano (AAA) to Hartford for RF Dewitt Barry and their 4th round pick.
(15:30:54) Evas: Alright, swing and a miss for me this year. Thanks, for the good talks everyone.
(15:30:55) Commish: With that, I'm signing off.

Definitely overpaid for Maes but had every intention at making a run for him. Very happy with the depth Takeda provides too. Not efficient but there's an option in there as well as some minimum salary pitchers on the way soon. Go Bears! And Go trojans, about to head in!

Side note- the bears plan was to overpay in FA. Duane was right. Happy with the aggregate of the Maes trade and signing. We actually got him cheaper than what his extension demand was, believe it or not.
