It is now the top of the second inning, and there is a pitching change for the SL. Michel Provost will now take to the mound.

Havana's Vern Duncan is the first batter he faces. The 1-1 pitch is grounded straight up the middle. Boswell scoops it up and throws it to first for the out.

Mark Edwards now steps up to the plate. Provost going straight for some 100 mph fastballs. The 0-1 pitch is belted to center field! Jerry Long races back but it's way over his head. Home Run!

Luis Cedeno is up next. He pops it up to right field, and Carlisle catches it easily for the out.

The next batter up is Miguel Yanez. The 1-0 pitch is grounded to the shortstop. Hernandez to Luna for the easy out.

As we enter the bottom of the second inning, the IL lead 1-0. ...and it looks like the Imperial League will make a pitching change. Chris York of West Virginia will enter the game.

Facing him in the batters box is the DH Ryozo Takeuchi. He is forcing him to throw some strikes and runs the count full. Takeuchi connects with one of Moondog's fastballs and Yanez sprints to right-center ... an awkward dive but he makes the catch.

Next batter is Christian Webb. Patience pays off and he draws a walk.

Theron Boswell is now up. The 1-0 pitch is shot down the left field line. It drops for a base hit! Webb hustles to third, and Boswell gets a double!

Jerry Long is next. York's splitter fools him and he goes down swinging.

Jarrod Ricks is up to bat. The 1-2 pitch was swung on and missed! That will end the inning. York gets himself out of trouble, and preserves the IL's lead.

End of 2nd: IL 1 - SL 0

The top of the third inning, and the SL will make a pitching change! Replacing Provost will be Bakersfield's lefty Declan Littleworth.

At bat is Amsterdam catcher Ryan Lambert. The 0-1 pitch is hit to Hernandez at shortstop, and Lambert is out at first by a considerable distance.

Felix Zavala is up. The 2-2 pitch is popped up in foul territory in left field, Ricks races over and makes the catch!

The batter is Pedro Rodriguez. He hits a slow grounder to second base. Boswell to Luna for the easy out.

The Imperial League will bring in a new pitcher for the bottom of the third. George Lee of Canton will take the mound.

The catcher Jesus Negrete is up to bat. The 0-2 pitch is hammered to left field! Rodriguez races for it, at the warning track and.... he caught it!

At bat: Paul Carlisle. The 2-2 pitch is hit back up the middle. Cedeno manages to grab it, and throw to first for the out.

Jose Luna is up to bat now. The 0-1 pitch is hit to Cedeno again. He tosses it to Zavala for the out.

We are entering the 4th inning, and, with a new inning comes a new pitcher. Kalamazoo's Kazuhiko Nichiyama will be on the mound for the SL.

James Heard pops up to left field for the first out.

Pat Barry up next. The count is full. Nichiyama fires a blazing 99 mph fastball up high to strike Barry out!

Vern Duncan now the batter. On the very first pitch he hits a big, lazy popup to first base. Luna catches it for the out.

It is now the bottom of the 4th, and the IL will change pitchers. Arlington's Manuel Pacheco will enter the game.

The batter is Andres Hernandez. He hits it into shallow center. Yanez runs after it and makes the catch.

Ryozo Takeuchi strikes out swinging.

Christian Webb up next. He hits one to shallow center. This time Yanez can't make it in time, and it drops in for a single.

Theron Boswell is at the plate. The 2-2 pitch... Webb takes off for second, Boswell shoots one towards third base. Duncan grabs it, and fires back to first to retire Boswell.

That is the end of the 4th inning.

As we enter the 5th inning, the SL will bring out the 'Tugboat'; Left-hander Randy Smith to pitch.

The first batter he will face is Mark Edwards. The 3-2 pitch is looped over 2B Boswell's head for a base hit.

Luis Cedeno strikes out with a fastball away. Tugboat is really throwing hard. All three of his fastballs were clocked at an identical 99 mph.

Miguel Yanez hits the 1-0 pitch towards second base. Boswell scoops it up, throws to second for one, and then they throw back to first for the double play!

And that will retire the side.

Mark Edwards is trying his hardest to get things going for the IL. Cedeno had been surprisingly average recently which seems to have carried over into the all-star game.

The bottom of the 5th inning and the IL will once again switch pitchers. To-Wai Zhou of San Juan will enter the game now.

Jerry Long runs the count full... and draws a walk to start off the inning.

Jarrod Ricks throws a bunt way down the 1B line. Zavala grabs it and runs it over himself to retire Ricks. Long reaches second base.

Jesus Negrete hits a 2-2 fastball deep into the left field corner! Rodriguez can't reach it! Long comes in to score, the throw by Rodriguez to second.... safe! A crucial double by Negrete ties things up!

Felipe Dias will come in to replace Paul Carlisle. A soft grounder to short. Edwards moves way in, throws off-balance, but Zavala was able to glove it! Dias is retired. Negrete moves to third.

With two out, and a man on third, Alex Bothwell will enter the game to replace Jose Luna. Bothwell grounds out, and that will end the inning.

The game is all tied up!

Luis Nieves will now enter the game as the SL's new pitcher.

Ryan Lambert gets a base hit single to left field.

Dwight Carver now enters the game, replacing Felix Zavala. The count is full, and Carver hits one in shallow center for a base hit! Lambert was already running ahead of time and tries for third! The throw by Long... not on time! Runners are now on first and third with no out.

Tony Velazquez comes up to bat to replace Rodriguez. He hits a bouncer up the 1B line... and it gets through Bothwell! Lambert scores, Carver heads for third, right-fielder Dias scoops it up and fires to third.... safe! The IL take a 2-1 lead.

Marcos Sanchez will come in to replace Heard. He hits one up the middle. Boswell throws to first for the out. Velazquez hustles to second base. Carver still at third.

Pat Barry is next. He will be walked, which will load the bases with one out.

A substitution on the mound. Crystal Lake's Dean McNeil will come in!

Vern Duncan is at bat. He smacks a grounder straight to the shortstop Hernandez. He throws home to retire Carver, and the throw to first .... on time! A great double play to stop the bleeding!

Ramon Leach pops up the 2-0 pitch to left field... Velazquez makes the catch.

Theron Boswell hits a sharp grounder past the shortstop! Hamada darts to third, and Boswell gets a double!

King Bailey will now enter the game, and gets ready to bat. He hits a grounder directly at Duncan at third... throws to first for the out.

The Sovereign League will bring in a new pitcher : Julio Gonzalez.

Mark Edwards is ready to bat. He connects with one! Waaay out in left field! Ricks races for it, at the warning track, he makes a spectacular catch!

Luis Cedeno shoots one down the right field line... fair ball! Dias can't quite catch it and it drops for a base hit. Cedeno makes it to second with a stand-up double.

Carlos Ryan now enters the game and gets up to bat. The 0-1 pitch, outside but Cedeno is running! Negrete throws to third... safe! Stolen base by Luis Cedeno!

Meanwhile, back to the at-bat. Full count and Gonzalez throws ball four. Runners are now on the corners with one out.

Scott Francis enters the game. He hits a grounder to Leach... to second... to first... double play! That will end the top of the inning.

The bottom of the 7th, and there is a new pitcher for the IL : right-hander Jorge Nunez of the San Juan Coqui.

At the plate is Jesus Lopez... freshly entered into the game as well. He smacks the 1-2 offering to deep center field! Carlos Ryan runs it down and makes the catch.

The new batter will be Yuma's Danny Burke. He tries to hold up on a full count, but that is strike three.

Felipe Dias takes a huge swing at a nasty curveball from Nunez. He gets a second consecutive strikeout.

That will end the inning.
