PEBA Live Draft moved to next weekend (May 6th/7th)

#1 Post by Reg »

Hi everyone,

In order to get StatsLab fully functional and up to date, the draft will be moved to next weekend (May 6th/7th).
This rescheduling will give people a bit more time to make lists once we do update, and also give us time to review and confirm the proper drafting order.

Apologies to everyone for the last-minute change.

All other details of the draft, such as the procedure and start time, remains the same! ;-D

For those who were wondering on a general timeline of our draft :
- on Saturdays (Rounds 1-3), we start at 1pm Eastern, and the draft normally goes for a few hours (~2-3 hours) if you want to personally pick all three rounds.
- on Sundays (Rounds 4-15), we also start at 1pm, and the draft is mostly done by lists, so attendance is usually sparse. But... GM's are open to log onto the chat room for discussion, and make their own picks live. This can take a bit longer (~4-6 hours), depending on how many decide to join in.

Due to the change in the schedule, the mini-sim to move us to draft day (June 5th) will be done wednesday evening. The official schedule now reflects this.

Personally speaking, if the draft had remained this weekend,
these updates would have been done at the very last moment,
and it would not have been fair to you, the GM's,
to be given less than 24 hours to make a list of drafted players
if you weren't able to attend.

If anyone has any concerns or needs information, you can contact me!

Note: as soon as StatsLab is ready to go, I will reply here!

That's my Palm Springs getaway so I won't be able to be live, but I'll be better prepared with a good list. Thanks for moving it!

Everybody loves a Palm Springs getaway :angelic-green:

Thank you very much for moving things! We stand a much better chance of having a successful draft this way.

Thanks guys!

So, the player list in StatsLab is now up to date, so draft lists can now be created!

For the next 24 hours or so, pay NO attention to the draft order, as Dan and I will be manually updating it. At times, it might look a bit goofy, but I will announce here, again, when that becomes official. ;-D

HOW TO CREATE A LIST IN STATSLAB

First, log into statslab here .

Once logged in, go to DRAFT -> TEAM WARROOM , where you will find the list of players (showing either batters or pitchers at any given time). There are filter options to narrow things down.

To add you your list, simply select a player and choose "Add to List"

Then, use this menu (image below) to select a player from your list, and :
- move him up or down, as they are listed in priority order
- remove a player
- set which round you want the draft to begin selecting from your list

Image

NOTE : If you plan to miss a certain portion of the draft, please make sure you have a sufficient number of picks in your list. Once the list runs out, StatsLab will "Auto Pick", and you can ask anyone here about the questionable selections you might end up with on "Auto Pick"!

There are more high-tech ways to get lists ready and import them in, but I will leave that to the true tech wizards. I am simply showing how I do it.

I couldn't quite get to 77 which would cover me through 3 rounds but got up to 61. I did skip over a lot of first round caliber players that didn't fit the mold of what I'm looking for on my team so I think I should be covered. Wish I would have made a big enough list but I didn't start until tonight so I think I did okay

Have fun tomorrow, wish I could join live!

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WAY WE WILL BE DRAFTING :

All picks are done through the live chat (you simply announce your pick), and either Morris, Dan or I will be entering the picks directly into StatsLab manually.

This is new. So we don't have to find our pick in the Stats Lab list and go through the usual perambulations of selecting and saving that pick in Stats Lab? In fact, we don't have to have Stats Lab open at all?

Statslab should still be useful for live tracking the draft so you know who is available to be picked.

I want to thank the Board - particularly Reg and Morris for running a seamless draft - perhaps the least trouble-ridden draft in PEBA history!! Bravo Guy!! You're Awesome Sauce!!
