In the end, Aurora's inability to avoid the long ball did us in - as I sat down for game 6, I thought to myself, 'we win if we don't give up any homers'... Well, that didn't happen (out-homered 11-6). Game 7 was one of the most heart-breaking games we've ever had. As Carlos Rivera strode to the mound I was thinking, 'Oh, how I wish this was 'Massacre' on the mound... Both Rivera and Romano were sub-.500 in their Quality Starts this season, and that really reared it's ugly head this season/postseason - especially with Provost over .600 and 'Tugboat' at an amazing .818 - neither OOTP nor StatsLab follow this stat historically, but that's got to be near the record - Provost was .900 in his amazing, breakout 2019 season ('Fireworks' best is .844... Victor Matos was .903 in '11...)...
Good Luck v. the F-heads and let's keep the Rodriguez Cup in the SL!!!
Thanks Mike! I really did not expect my boys to put up so many homers at your park and in the cold! The long ball has been our blessing and curse all season long.
I really did not expect to get past Provost in game 6, especially how he shut us down in game 2. Fortunately, I was able to have Jerry Long back in the lineup. Unexpectedly, we decided to start hitting singles and doubles in the 7th inning and that was just what was needed.
I'll do my best to keep the Rodriquez cup in the SL! I'm a little concerned that
Francisco 'Yogi' Robles and
Wilson Muñóz might have it out for me after shipping them out of town this past off-season.
Ken happened to be over my house for a bbq for my wife's birthday when we saw the game had simulated. Let's just say we got some strange looks from everyone there when we both jumped in the air to see we were facing of against each-other.
This might be the last week of our friendship!
