Call for Word Counts

#1 Post by Morris Ragland »

Send in your submitted article word counts for 2024 for CP (3 per 100 words).

Also, tally any blog posts (5 CP per post for standard entries, or 10 CP for each hyperlinked entry).

Dates are August 17, 2016 through February 19, 2017.

PMs to be sent to me.

Also, any article written between October 23rd-30th 2016 was worth DOUBLE CP.

In order to receive this bonus, you must specify the word count of the article (or articles) which fall within these dates!

how do we handle fractions of 100 words? say for example its 150 words. Just 3 pts? or do we round up or down?

Do long vs short blog posts count the same? I had 2 1000+ word count posts recently - seems like I should have posted them as articles. If that's how I get them on the front page - what are the qualifications? I tried posting my draft review that way and it didn't make the front page so I just figured someone was picking only the best stuff. I'm not the best writer so I wasn't heart broken :)

Hey Bobby, I don't know what you may or may not have done, but I believe you have to 'Tag' it as featured to get it to show up on the Front Page - and select a 'Featured Image' if you want something custom there; You might have to upload a pic if it's not already in the league database, or just use an HTML link...

Bobby, you need to use wordpress (on the website) to post to the front page. I typically post something that is more like a news article to the front page from my beat writer. I am sure Dan or Morris can help you out with wordpress.

Bobby, if you aren't, go to the PEBA Front Page, and in the upper left is a spot to log in - then in the GM corner (right side) you'll see a 'Submit News' link - it's mostly self explanatory there - though a little clumsy with pics.

I use Word to write those articles, adding links into my writing, then just copy and past - the links will carry over to the publishing page!! Far easier than linking up on the publishing page....

Bobby, Mike is completely correct. I also can copy and paste from the board here and it will copy over the links!

I just did some experimentation using my recently published article. Tagging an article as "Featured" causes it to show up in the little "Latest" headline ticker at the top of the page; but it will show up on the Front Page with or without that tag, as long as it was published through the Submit News process as Mike and Brian outlined.

Some of our GMs are not yet set up in WordPress.

I believe Dan is the only active GM who can perform admin functions there, and he is out indefinitely.
