Side-Effects of Contraction

#1 Post by DanD »

Just curious about everyone's take on this since we're almost through our first season.

In my opinion, it feels like maybe the talent level has risen a bit? There have been several guys with ratings that I would have evaluated to equate to league average production but when put into action have performed a bit worse than that.

And I guess maybe some statistical evidence is that Pat Barry's OPS is 40 points lower this season yet his wRC+ is within 2 points of last year's number.

I have mixed feelings on the contraction. I think the FA market became more flushed with talent making it more difficult to make trades. But I like having human managed teams rather than AI.

One thing I've noticed is the odd pattern of players drafted highly recently by the old PEBA teams who then are released...

Also, we need to do something about the schedule - it has been a hot mess this season...

I agree .... I would rather see 2 game series than these gaps

Or 28-games in a row - for multiple times a season...
