Jamie Espinoza hit his 300th home run this sim, becoming the 3rd player this year to reach that milestone. He actually had 5 on the week, earning Player of the Week honors. He actually sat out all of 2027, unable to secure a job until this July, when we signed him. To be quite honest, we only picked him up because we saw Don Mercer's 300th HR and noticed he was close and out of work. He still seemed to have some power and our other first basemen have been abysmal. He's only hitting .225 on the year, but he's been drawing walks and connecting for power when he does get a hit.

Very satisfied with the performance by Duluth this week. (Most of) the pitching staff had a phenomenal start to August. We have an incredible amount of potential in our lineup--with some solid relief veterans. While 4-3 may not be a success to every manager, I'm proud of our boys. Losing Mercer, Prat, and Lopez--the 3 highest-rated players on the team--with 3 23-year old pitching starters; 4-3 in a week is not bad at all. Sad to see Galvan's hot streak is ended, and even more sad to see it seems that Joe Kenny's days are done. Overall, a more than acceptable week for Duluth. August was a sizzler for almost everyone on the pitching staff, and the trades have all worked out acceptably so far.

The Zephyrs' current win percentage (.473) is the highest we have seen since 2020 when we last made the playoffs. The post season is not exactly within our grasp this year but, we are inching toward the goal. I am doing everything in my power to field a respectable team. I have preferred to have a team go through cycles - win for a few seasons, rebuild, repeat. That formula has not worked in the PEBA. I have not been able to draft well with my boat-load of first round picks and my free agent signings have been equally craptastic. I will need to land a better than average 1B and 2B through free agency or trade by the start of next season or the wheels might come off.

Rowan 'Bleeder' Stuart, John Lawson and Pedro Ferringo are carrying the team offensively. On the pitching side of the equation, Ángel Valdéz is the star of the rotation and looks like a legit Ace. And after 4 seasons with the team, Héctor Rivera has finally started to pitch like we hoped he would. He was just moved into the 'Stopper' role for the bulpen. Defense has been a disappointment. We are currently 8th in Defensive Efficiency and Torazo Kodama has been a huge disappointment this season. After 4 straight seasons of stellar glove work at SS, the 27 year old appears to have forgotten how to field a baseball.

Lastly, on the advice of peer GMs I moved Masakazu 'Badger' Nishimura to the rotation. 2 starts, both Quality Starts. I will be watching that change-up like a hawk.

You can’t argue with the second 6-0 sim of the season, 18-6 since the all star break.

Well, the combination of a 1-6 sim and a season-ending injury to our ace reliever have made me glad Palm Springs did not roll the dice on any win-now deals at the deadline to make a push for the playoffs. Add in the fact all our prospective rivals loaded up and made themselves even stronger, and I think our chances would have been well-nigh impossible.

Nothing to do now but look forward to the probable September debut of super-prospect Pablo Ortíz.

Rough sim in SS. Duluth shredded the Evas taking 5 of 6. Just ugly all around.

Managing to take 2 of 6 against Frago is a win in Toyama's book. From a .389 winning percentage last season to .458 so far this season has been a pleasant surprise. With $40mil+ in free agent space this offseason and likely still a top 10 pick, things are looking up for the Wind Dancers.

Was perusing transcations and came across the trade of the year:

DULUTH WARRIORS
MAJOR TRANSACTIONS

Monday, July 31st, 2028
Traded $2,000,001 in cash to the San Juan Coqui, getting $1 in cash in return.

As far as I can see no players involved, must have been some $1 bill !

Call that a senior moment by the Commish, who had had too much Yuman water - that was completing an earlier trade...

Money laundering scandal in PEBA ! :-o

Any truth in the rumour that San Juan’s dollar bill was the only legit note in the whole deal?

Hey now, Duluth's cash is backed by the Bong Water LLC. That's a steady market.

That’s libel! I am instructing Yuma’s lawyers to file suit against you in civil court. We will be asking for $1 million in damages. But we would settle out of court for a third round draft pick.
