I have headed the opposite direction of the Cardinal herd who hope our rival Cubbies lose. My harmonic resonance with the underdog compels me to hope a team who hasn't won in 108 years is able to satisfy fans who have not seen a championship during their lives.

I had been hoping one of the teams who has never won, Rangers or Nationals, would have a shot. Cleveland vs. Chicago seems a decent second best matchup.

I remember taking some consolation in knowing the Red Sox had ended a 97 year drought at the expense of the Cardinals.
Underdog?!?!

The whole freakin world is rooting for them and a good chunk say they should win. The underdogs are clearly the Indians.

If the Cubs do win, it will take away their entire identity. And that would be a tragic loss.

<Edit to avoid double posting:>
I find discussion of rare circumstances or plays interesting and informational in general.

Sometimes I think they go overboard regarding a series which has only 7 games at most every year. The grand sum total of historical World Series games is actually a very small relative sample size. In a small sample size, expecting the norm with a statistically consistent absence of oddities is somewhat unreasonable.

Here is my over-exaggerated example:
That's the first time ever in World Series history that a 39 year old catcher named Ross was unable to use his head to successfully block a pitch which ran far wild on the ricochet, having received the pitch from a pitcher named Lester, who had just relieved a pitcher, yet typically been utilized as a starter during the regular season, in a Game 7 occurring on a November 2nd that fell on a Wednesday, when the wind was blowing in at 14 mph, then later responded with a home run of his own.

Here is my sarcastic yet more appropriately framed example:
This is the only ever World Series Game 7 in 2016. As a result, every single event and circumstance is definitively unique.

The less qualifiers required, the more significant the event or circumstance.

More informative examples would be along these lines:
This is the most runners left stranded in a World Series or playoff game.
This is the largest come back in a playoff game.
That was the oldest player to hit a home run in World Series history.

<end Edit>

I should have clarified that I was referring to a long term historical organizational underdog, only respective to championships. :)

The team with the best regular season record could not be considered a current underdog. Quite the opposite actually.

Anybody seen any pigs flying, time travelers, or volcanoes cooling relative to a frozen hell?

This is the best way to show my feelings about the World Series.
