Mafia! The Stadium Lockdown: Day 3

#1 Post by Lions »

It wasn't long after Rick left the locker room that Magnus and Ulrich escorted everyone back to
their luxury boxes for the night. Given the events of the past two nights, everyone seemed more
than willing to come along quietly. Even Olivia Parsons, who now realized she wasn't locked up
quite as tight in the suite as she thought she was.

Gavin Black, realizing that things were going from bad to worse decided to take the opportunity
to return to the locker room and take care of the situation that was most on his mind: hair gel.

Image

"I can't believe this," he muttered to himself, "I was supposed to be out having a nice date last
night, and today I was supposed to pick up some more hair gel. Two bottles don't last long, you
know. Chicken grease is not my preferred fallback... but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!"

In the dark he could see a few glasses still on the table, and what appeared to be the remains of
the day's spread. There wasn't much in there, and the pickings were slim.

Image

"Oh, this is no good," he moaned, "I really need more gel!" Behind him, Homer Simian quietly
raised his arm.

Image

"No you don't," he uttered.

***

Elsewhere, Marcy Swanson was getting ready for bed. She didn't much like the makeshift bed that
the couch in her suite represented, but there was a nice view of the field that she would wake up
to when it was light again. As she returned from the restroom, she was thinking about watching
some television before turning the light out for the night when she discovered a glass of wine and
some food that had been left for her.

Image

"Oh, that's perfect," she thought. "Nothing like some wine to take the edge off of these terrible
events and I do love cheese and crackers!"

She sat down on the couch and began to eat. The cheese was aged, although it wasn't clear if that
was intentional or not. Still she did like it.

Image

The wine, on the other hand, had a bit of an odd aftertaste,
although she didn't have long to experience it.

When morning came, once again the party was assembled in the locker room. Not only was Rick absent, but
Gavin and Marcy as well. People stirred anxiously, but no one spoke until Mr. Harrison and Josef arrived.

Image

Mr. Harrison stood off to one side and simply motioned for Josef to speak as he silently stood
there with tear stained cheeks.

"I am," Josef began, "Incredibly disappointed to have to inform you all zat Gavin Black was ze third
player found murdered in zis stadium. He died last night, also in zis locker room, and was
TOWN.
I investigated thoroughly before you all awoke, and believe it was ze same murder weapon zat killed
Laird Wausden and Spikes McGee.

"Furthermore, when Magnus went to fetch Marcy zis morning,
she was also found dead... It appears... how shall I put zis... zat she was poisoned."

Audible gasps came from those present as people glanced nervously left and right.

"Unfortunately, she was also
TOWN," Josef continued.

"And finally, I am sure you are all wondering about Rick. Well, perhaps not all of you. You zee,
he was
TOWN as well. It does zeem as though ze mafia have played us for fools, and I fear
we are running out of time."

Rules - Please read these carefully!
  1. Each player will be given a character to play who will be aligned with either the Town, the Mafia (scum), or niether. Town wins when all threats to the town have been eliminated and there is at least one town player alive. Mafia wins when the Mafia obtain a majority or nothing can prevent this from occurring. Any other party characters will have their own win conditions outlined in their roles.
  2. Each day you will vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format: Vote: Character (Name/Forum Handle). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Name/Forum Handle). No other format will be accepted. You may unvote and revote as many times as you like. The player with the most votes at the end of a game day will be lynched. If there is a tie then the first player to achieve this vote count will be lynched. Failing to post in the day thread will result in a vote penalty the following day equal to the remaining number of players divided by 4, rounded up. You may not vote for yourself.
  3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end after 72 hours, unless the group are decided on a lynch and the moderator decides to end it early. After the day has concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of the night stage. They will not be accepted after this deadline has passed.
  4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night will be revealed at the beginning of the next day.
  5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the game hosts via PM. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage.
  6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. Metagame at your own risk.
  7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. Please respect those still alive by keeping what you know to yourself until the game is over.
  8. You may not edit your posts. Editing a post will result in a vote penalty the same day, equal to the number of remaining players divided by 4, rounded up.
  9. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM. No other communication with the hosts will be accepted or acknowledged.
  10. Any interpretation of rules that require clarification is at the hosts discretion and the host's word is final. You are more than welcome to PM the host for any clarification needed that you feel may be too revealing to ask in this thread.
  11. Violation of the above rules will result in vote penalties at the host's discretion, with the possibility of death for repeated offenses.

Ulysses is the owner of the Clutchers, and has known that something fishy was going on, but has so far been unable to stop it, a situation reflected in his appearance if not his demeanor.

Image
Josef - NPC
Itís a bit unclear exactly where Josef is from, but he dresses like Sherlock Holmes and clearly knows what heís doing.

Image
Magnus - NPC
For some odd reason, he doesn't remind you at all of Inspector Fenwick. The beret doesn't help.

Image
Ulrich - NPC
A Royal Canadian Mountie with a black doo-rag and a Katana strapped to his back?

Players
Image
Thomas Hutchins - Played by John (PEBA Commissioner)
You are the team's dependable ace, a veteran who's seen it all, and little phases you at this stage of your career. The offense may be bleak, but you're regularly among the league leaders in most pitching stats.

Image
Janet Ingram - Played by James (Longshoremen)
You are the Clutcher's public relations representative. You have recently denied any truth to rumors of romantic invovlement with Laird Wausden.

Image
Olivia Parsons - Played by Bob (Bulldozers)
A single mother and ex-college softball player, you love bringing your son Todd to Clutchers games.

Image
Todd Parsons - Played by Dan (Bureaucrats)
You're the 12 year old son of Olivia, and have been a die hard Clutchers fan longer than you can remember.

Image
Vinny Patek - Played by Kevn V (Evas)
A die hard Beavers fan living in Clutcher's country, you never miss a game when the Beavers visit, and you take plenty of joy in how your team has dominated the matchup in recent years.

Image
Suka Tingenek - Played by Paul (Trendsetters)
You hail from Kivalina, AK and have been an avid follower of Laird Wausden ever since his days as a minor leaguer.

Deceased
Image
Laird Wausden - NPC
Wausden was slated to start the first game of the Beaver series before he was found murdered in the showers.

Image Image
Bob Scorat - Played by Mike (Borealis) - Lynched on Day 1 - TOWN
You are the player agent for Laird Wausden.

Image Image
Spikes McGee - Played by Brian (Sandgnats) - Killed on Night 1 - TOWN
You are the speedy leadoff hitter that drives the Clutcher's offense. You're easily the best player in a troubled lineup and you know it.

Image Image
Rick Leonardson - Played by Tyler (Alleghenies) - Lynched on Day 2 - TOWN
You are the Clutcher's head statistician, a position you have the education for but were ultimately given because you are the owner's nephew.

Image Image
Gavin Black - Played by Kevin L (Featherheads) - Killed on Night 2 - TOWN
You are the Clutcher's cleanup hitter, and you're always trying to take the ladies deep, too, but you're more likely to swing and miss in both situations.

Image Image
Marcy Swanson - Played by Nigel (Underground) - Killed on Night 2 - TOWN
You regularly sing the national anthem at Clutcher's games, but missed your opportunity with the cancellation of today's game.
***

Day 3 has now begun. The day will last 72 hours. You may not vote for the first 24 hours.

This thread is exclusively for active participants in the game. In-character posts only, please.

Vinny Patek: Well. That is not what I expected at all. Gavin Black and I had been talking about who the Mafioso's are and were convinced Marcy was one of them....

It seems that we townies, and I am most certainly a townie, are likely very near to being finished.

I'm going to need to give this some thought... Need to look over the votes again. There has to be some sort of a pattern.

Vinny Patek: Actually, Blackie reached out to me. One of his conclusions was that Marcy was a bogie. I agreed, but it seems we were both horribly wrong.

I had thought that I was a goner last night. Unfortunately they got Blackie instead.

I've got to do better and think smarter about this. There were 2 murders last night. Does that mean there are at least 2 mafioso's?

OLIVIA: (Awakening to the sounds of voices) God, my head hurts.

(Carefully running her fingers through her hair) There's … a bump! How'd I get a bump on my head? Did someone —

(She covers her mouth with her hands. She looks around, panic in her eyes. She has never been more frightened in her life.)

Todd! Todd, where are you?

Thomas Hutchins: I ain't buying what you're selling, Patek. Gavin reached out to me last night. He suspected near about everybody, but the first name on his watch list was you, Beaver boy. Yeah, you: The guy who convinced us to lynch the egghead, who we now know was clean.

Now Gav's dead. So's that pretty missy who sings our Anthem 'fore games. Seems like this ain't about just killin' off Clutchers players... seems like this is about killin' off every last man, woman, and child in the employ of the Clutchers. And there's just two of us left: me and Batgirl.

I ain't going down like that, and I ain't letting Gav go un-revenged. I loved Gav like he was my own brother, and we know damn well who offed him. It's you, Patek. And you're gonna pay.

OLIVIA: Oh, please please please, no more voting! Every time we vote, we execute an innocent person. Please, if everybody just refuses to vote, the killing stops.

(Turns to Todd, in severe voice) And you are not voting anymore, young man. I will not have you part of this … this … this damnable murderous game.

Vinny Patek: Alright Hutchins, you think everyone is out to get the Clutchers? Fine. I don't think we necessarily have to look at more Clutchers this time.

How about the quiet guy over in the corner? At this point not saying anything seems like trying to blend in unnoticed, trying not to let something slip. Everyone should be fighting for their lives fighting to demonstrate their innocence. Anyone not doing that is suspect in my book.

The Eskimo is too quiet.

Thomas Hutchins: I got convinced to vote for the quiet one twice now. That's got us two lynched townies. So I'm done second-guessing what's smacking me right in the face.

I ain't voting to lynch no Eskimo. I ain't voting to lynch a kid or his mama. I ain't voting to lynch the only other person here in the employ of the Clutchers, even if she is crazy... no offense intended, ma'am (tips cap in Janet's direction).

I'm voting to lynch the one guy in this room with clear cause to be wanting Clutchers dead. I'm voting to lynch the man who convinced us that the egghead was mafia, which he weren't. I'm voting to lynch you, Patek. Ain't no force on Earth going to change my mind.

Vinny Patek: I should have listened to Blackie while he was still alive. He didn't trust you, and neither do I.

If you're going to try to convince the group that I'm the bad guy because I root for another team, fine. Enough trying to work with you.

I can see through you shallow little excuses. You were probably in the bag with the bad guys the whole time. I bet they had some leverage on you so that you'd throw some games for them. After, it is easy to let a couple curve balls too many hang.

Let's go ahead and finish this. We'll see who's right.

Suka: I am guilty because I have been quiet...how bout we point the fingers at Janet? Where is she, she led us down the path to convict Rick and look where that got us. She even threatened Thomas there to change his vote. Yet last week, my dear friend Vinny, you wanted us all to vote out the kid...now it's Hutch or me !?! Where is your basis? You voted for Rick, just like I did...we danced like puppets for the loud and bullying Janet last week, and I am not going to go down that same path again this week...so Vinny, I vote for you because you seem so ready to toss out votes and accusations.

JANET INGRAM sits in the corner shell-shocked, a catatonic stare on her face, knees drawn to her chest, and arms wrapped tightly around her shins, wearing a "Never Forget Rick Leonardson" T-shirt. She barely hears the commotion about who is voting and for whom they are voting. She shakes off her lethargy long enough to mouth a few words:

Suka: Janet, snap out of it, you and Vinny were the first to vote out Rick, and now you are going with Vinny again...you led us down the wrong path, if you want to prove you aren't mafia...you need to explain yourself...if not, I know who my vote will be for next round, if I am alive at all. You who so vehemently called us sheep are certainly acting very sheepish at the moment...
