Barker has an 11-4 record with a 1.73 ERA. He leads the league in ERA.

Samuel Kettley rips the ball to short left field the ball skips along the line and into the corner. He glides into second with a stand-up double.
Guerera is struck out with a sinker.
Carter lines the ball to first base, where Johnson gloves it.
Ellacott drives the ball deep into the outfield. Collins ranges back and snags it on the track.

That retires the side, leaving one stranded.

At the top of the second we are scoreless.

Hurst remains on the mound.

Carmona sneaks one through the right field side for an inexpensive single.
Britt gets under a pitch and pops it up in foul territory 1B Guerra slides under it for an easy out.
Rod Johnson strikes out.
Bob Arnold earns a walk with a keen eye.
That brings us to two on with two outs.
Danny Burke drives one down the right field line. It gets into the corner. Carmona scores. Arnold holds up at third and Burke cruises into second base.

That's an RBI double and we have a score as the Sovereign league takes the lead, 1-0.

With men on second and third, Gil Sterling drives the ball to deep left center. Javier Cruz races back...onto the track...stretches out...and makes the grab.

Two men left on, but the Sovereign League draws first blood.

Dave Barker returns to the hill for the second inning.

Chris Long comes to the plate.
Roller toward short ... 6-3 out.
Rob Raines pounds one up the middle Gil Sterling moves to his left. Stops the ball, off-balance throw and gets the out.
Javier Cruz drives the ball into center field for a hit.
That's a two-out single.
Tuo-Zhou Yang rolls a slow ground down the 1st base side. Scooped up and taps the base for the out.

One left stranded.

Niccollo Arcimboldo takes the mound for the Imperial League. He has a 9-4 record, with a 2.14 ERA.

The top of the order is up for the Sovereign League, which holds a 1-0 lead at the top of the 3rd.

Marsh is sent back to the bench swinging through a fastball.
Collins follows in kind.
Wilson lines a shot to center field, near the wall, but Cruz covers ground and brings it in on the warning track.

Three up. Three Down.

Score remains 1-0 in favor of the Sovereign League in the middle of the third.

Kettley doubles from the lead-off spot. Why didn't I think of putting him there?!

Arcimboldo with a solid inning. Let's get back that run!

SP Gunner Macgruder takes the mound for the Sovereign League in the bottom of the 3rd.

There is a defensive switch. Boyd Johnson comes in to play third base, replacing Mike Britt. Apparently the Aurora organization was squawking because their instructions for use of the recently injured Britt, in the game, were not being followed.

The score is 1-0 Sovereign league. Macgruder has a 12-5 record with a 2.21 ERA.

Pete Wills drives the ball into the left side hole. Sterling dives, makes the grab, outstanding play. But it's too late to make a throw. So Wills takes first with a lead off infield single.
Kettley watches four wide ones and then heads down to first. This is not typical of MacGruder's form.
MacGruder strikes out Guerera and picks up a much needed out.
Carter bounces one toward first base. Johnson gathers it in, steps on first, then fires it down to second. But Kettley slides in safely. Wills takes third.
The IL has a chance to even things up or better, with runners on second and third with two outs!
Ellacott fights off a pitch, sending it to short right. Wills stomps on home plate with both feet and shoots his arms to the sky. Kettley rounds third but obeys the stop sign of the base coach.
Ellacott ties the game up with that RBI single.

First and Third now, with two outs for the Imperial League. Can they take the lead?
Long hits the ball out to deep left, but Collins glides back and makes the catch, stranding 2.

The Imperial League has tied things up, 1-1 after three innings of play.

Archimbaldo makes his warmup throws preparing for his second inning of work on the mound.

Tony Carmona comes to the plate in this 1-1 game at the top of the 4th.

Carmona patiently draws a walk.
Johnson gets a good pitch to pull out to right field. Yang races in, but slows up to take the ball on the bounce.
Men on first and second with nobody out. Archimbaldo needs to zone in now.
And he does, catching the inside corner for a called strike three on Rod Johnson.
Bob Arnold at the plate. Broken ball grounder up the middle. Long grabs it, steps on the bag and rifles it to first. But not in time. Carmona moves over to third.
Runners on the corners with two outs now. Danny Burke at the plate.
Ball hit high in the air, out to left, Wilson closes his glove on it to end the inning.

Score still knotted up at 1-1 in the middle of the 4th.

Wilson, you crazy Cajun! Get off the field....you're not in Charleston any more! Apparently you can take the outfielder out of the IL, but you can't take the IL out of the outfielder. :-B
