We've got a packed house this afternoon. Brits have been going bonkers for baseball thanks to the unprecedented upswing of the Underground. You couldn't ask for a better day: 89°, mild breeze blowing out to right, and not a cloud in the sky. Let's play ball! "Sawmill" Francisco is about to throw the first pitch of the game to "Hammerhead" Valentín.

That didn't take long! It's little surprise that über-stud Rob Raines gets the scoring started. His blast to right-center travels 394', just over the outfield wall for our first home run. IL 1 - SL 0

Can you say, "Back-to-back jacks!"? Ronald Lowry can! 401' to right field was the measure on that one. With Pedro "Rival" Barrón set to finally toe the rubber after the break, one could see Rival and Lowry powering Connecticut to great heights in the second half. IL 2 - SL 0

No more damage for Sawmill in the first. Kodo surrenders a walk on four pitches to Steve McDonald to start the bottom frame. McDonald makes it to third base on two fielders choices but is stranded there by Bob Keller. Markus "Fireworks" Hancock is coming in to pitch the 2nd for the SL.

Apparently 'Sawmill' prefers to be called 'Gas Can'.

Great diving stab by Lowry on a Chris Allen liner to end the bottom of the 2nd! Lowry is doing it with his bat and his glove! We go to the 3rd. Omaha's António "Crayon" Rivera is in to pitch.

Rude greeting! Edgar "Hammerhead" Valentín hammers Crayon's second pitch deep, deep, deep into the centerfield bleachers, where Underground fans sunning themselves suddenly scramble for a souvenir. That's three solo homers for the IL now. Hammerhead's shot was the biggest blast by far; it went an estimated 425'. IL 3 - SL 0

Crayon gives up a duck snort single to Raines but nothing else. Gloucester's Manuel "Mayor" Corona is perfect in the bottom half of the inning, needing just six pitches to retire the side. Looks like José Cruz is coming out to start the 4th for the SL.

So here's what we were waiting for. Voters didn't elect a true CF amongst the SL outfield starters, so Pat Lilly is getting the call there. Lilly is known more for his prodigious bat than his great range in the outfield. That double that Wilson Berry just hit would have been a tough play for anyone, but maybe a true centerfielder gets it before it drops on the warning track. It was out of Lilly's reach, though, and now Berry is on 2nd with one away. Teammate Jorge Velasco will try to drive him in.
